Gorilla heights Lodge
Gorilla heights lodge is a luxury accommodation facility situated on the highest point of kigezi hills in the south western region of Uganda in Bwindi impenetrable national park in Kisoro district, Bwindi impenetrable national park is a UNESCO world heritage site and a famous home for the critically endangered mountain gorillas hosting 36 habituated gorilla families which are open for mountain gorilla trekking experience.
Gorilla Heights Lodge is nestled on the edges of Bwindi impenetrable forest near Nkuringo gorilla sector sitting on an expanse of 12 acres of land, the lodge is strategically situated offering views of Nyamuragira, Nyiragongo volcanoes and the canopy of Bwindi forest from the large widows.
Gorilla Heights Lodge offers luxury accommodation through its well established rooms with large aluminum windows and doors, the lodge also offers luxurious facilities to make you stay an amazing one such as luxury spa, heated swimming pool, main lounge area and a fully stocked bar.
Gorilla Heights Lodge is a very accessible accommodation facility situated in a distance of 483.6 kilometers from Kampala and it can also be accessed from Kigali using Kigali international airport, the lodge is situated in the montane forest climate with average temperature range of 7-20 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperatures and 20-27 degrees Celsius as maximum temperatures and also receiving 2390 mm of rain per year. The lodge is lies on the altitude range of 1160 meters – 2607 meters above the sea level which brings about the variations of temperatures at the lodge, the temperatures usually drop to about 12 degrees Celsius in the morning and evening. Because the altitude it is very much advisable for tourists to carry warm comfortable clothing’s and a rain jacket should not miss on your packing list as it usually rains.

Gorilla Heights Lodge offers its accommodation through its 15 cottages, these cottages are beautiful established and symmetrically spread across the lodge and each cottage consists of wide balconies offering spectacular views of Bwindi impenetrable forests canopy. These cottages where feature green inclined roofs, orange steel pillars, miniature brick-stones and black volcanic stones mined from kyambura and Kisoro. Cottages at the lodge include 1 family cottage, 5 deluxe cottages and 9 standard cottages and they are explains as below

Family cottage at Gorilla Heights Lodge is named silverback after the alpha male the ruler and head of a gorilla family, family cottage is 100 square meters room consisting of 3 extra-large double beds and featuring a seating area, dining area, a patio, private entrance, a terrace and a private bathroom.

Deluxe cottages are named after the 5 Virunga volcanoes which create a magnificent backdrop to the lodge that is Muhabura, Sabyinyo and Virunga. Deluxe cottage is a 75 square meters double room featuring a balcony, executive lounge access, an en-suite bathroom and sofa with 1 extra-large double bed. From the large widows and the balcony you get views of the mountain and garden.

Mountain gorilla trekking
Gorilla Heights Lodge offers mountain gorilla trekking is the main highlight activity in Bwindi impenetrable national park, the lodge offers the experience in the Nkuringo gorilla sector which is the closest sector to the lodge. Gorilla trekking experience in Nkuringo sector is an exciting experience offering you a chance to visit the famous Nkuringo gorilla group which was habituated in 2002 and it consists of 19 family members. While trekking Nkuringo gorilla family you also get to enjoy the scenic views of Nyiragongo and Nyamuragira volcanoes of Virunga national park in democratic republic of Congo. Nkuringo sector is situated in a drive of 15 minutes from the lodge.
Community visits
Gorilla heights lodge offers community visits to local communities situated on the borders of the park that is the batwa and bakiga communities, community visit offers a guest an authentic African experience as you visit the batwa people who are the early inhabitants of the forest. While visiting these ancient people you will enjoy cultural performances through songs and dances, visit the local healers, witness the making of various art items such as baskets, mats, bags, sandals and many more.
Hiking and nature walks
Gorilla heights lodge is situated in Nkuringo sector which is greatly gifted by natures and many forest wildlife thus facilitating amazing hiking and nature walks, king and forest walks in Nkuringo sector are done either in the early morning and evening from various points of the sector. While on hiking and nature walks you get enjoy the peaceful calm nature of the forest and also get to encounter forest animals such as baboons, white and black colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, forest pigs and many more.

Gorilla heights lodge offers birding experience to its visitors in the forests of Bwindi impenetrable national park, while on a forest walk the guest enjoys sweet melodic sounds made by birds and with the help of binoculars you get an opportunity to see beautiful bird species such as African emerald cuckoo, yellow eyed black catcher, kivu ground thrush, African blue flycatcher, garners warbler, black bee eater and many more.
