Karuma Falls
Karuma Falls located in North-western Uganda on the Victoria Nile in the Eastern part of Murchison Falls National Park are some of the most beautiful falls in the pearl of Africa. The falls have water flowing on a series of unique shaped rocks that are believed to have been formed on the base of the Victoria Nile. However the locals in the area believe that the rocks were placed there by a spirit called Karuma, and hence the falls are named after the great Spirit Karuma.
These unique series of rocks coupled with the flowing water from the Nile cause a ripple that is rare, beautiful and amazingly stunning white foam that is so beautiful to look at.
The Karuma falls are some of the most famous and most visited falls in the country after Murchison falls, Itanda falls and Sipi falls. They are unique located and purely beautiful plus them being on the Nile is another bonus why people are always curious to see the falls.
The Karuma falls on top of their beautiful and scenic falls they host on of oldest bridges in Uganda, thus the Karuma Bridge that connects the western region to the Northern region.
To access the Karuma Falls you can go through Masindi town or Gulu town. From Masindi town to Karuma Falls is about an hour and a half and from Gulu town, it’s about an hour. Masindi town is about 3 hours from Kampala and Gulu is about 4 Hours from Kampala.

The Karuma falls are beautiful, with water flowing at a gnashing speed and sound they are just the definition of a scenic sight. So visitors to the Karuma falls enjoy time viewing the Karuma falls as the Nile water flows over the unique shaped rocks. They also enjoy the spectacular surrounding of the falls that includes the vegetation around falls, the bridge and several other features.
Sportfishing
Down the Victoria Nile you have an opportunity to engage in some sport fishing where you will compete to catch some Nile-perch that are a common type of fish found in the Nile River. This is a fun activity and also the fish you catch on the experience you can take them with you and have them prepared for you in a delicious meal.

You can take a walk through the Budongo forest to explore the beauty of this tropical forest, sight some primates if you are lucky see some chimpanzees, see several bird species, butterflies and many more creatures.
A walk through this forest is also refreshing and relaxing especially if you want to revitalise.
