So in this article let us interest you in some of the popular safaris you can have in Uganda, before AFCON 2027.
Mountain gorilla trekking safaris
These are some of the most popular safaris in this country. Done all year round in Bwindi National Park and Mgahinga National Park, the safaris give you an opportunity to see the mountain gorillas up close and personal in their natural habitat. On these safaris you get up quite early, go to park headquarters for a debrief before you head into the forest for the experience. In the forest you trek for about 3 to 5 hours before you get to the gorillas where you spend an hour then out of the forest.
The safari is whole day activity and the gorillas park are about 9 to 10 hours from Uganda’s capital Kampala; so when you are planning for this safari think of 3 days minimum. Also know that for these safaris you need to secure your mountain gorilla trekking permit of USD 700 in advance, at least 3 months in advance.
You can also have a full blown primate safari and visit the chimpanzees in Kibale National park and other chimpanzees’ habitats for a chimpanzee trekking experience.
Big five and savannah wildlife safaris
This is basically a safari for you to see the big five of the wild; that is the lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and the rhino. And on top of these you also see numerous other animals like the topis, kops, giraffes, hippos, antelopes, cheetahs and many more.
These safaris in Uganda are done at the different 8 savannah national park and a couple of game reserves that include but not limited to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchsion Falls National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, Kidepo anational park and others. For these safaris depending on the actiuvities you are going to do, think of 3 to 7 days of the safari.
Activities on these safaris are game drives, nature walks, hot air ballons, boat rides etc.

Adventure and recreactional trips
These are usually done as top up activities for your safari and they include but not limited to mountain hiking, white water rafting, bungee jumping, mountain biking, quad biking, ziplining, water fall adventures etc.
They are done in places like Jinja, the source of the nile, itanda falls, sipi falls, sezzibwa falls and others.
For mountain hiking; in Uganda Mt Rwenzori is most famous mountain of all one that is also hard to climb so people always seek to challenge themselves to climb that mountain.
