2022 Entrance fees Murchison Falls National Park; Entrance fees are amount of money a visitor pays to have the right to enter into the protected area could be a national park, museum, monument or exhibition many more.

Therefore, any visitor on a visit to the national park has to consider the park’s rules and regulations given or to be followed;

Travelers should not drive off the tracks

You should not camp or make campfire except at designated sites.

When you’re in the park, do not litter rubbish.

You should give freedom to the wildlife by not sounding motor horns.

Dogs are not allowed or other pets into the park

Do not pick any flower or destroy any vegetation

Do not exceed the speed limits of 40 kilometers per hours.

However, Murchison Falls national park sounds as the largest national park in Uganda, covering a lowland area of about 3,840 square kilometers. The park is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage and one among the ten Uganda national parks, located in the northwestern Uganda regions to thrill while on Uganda Safaris Tours. Murchison Falls were first created in 1926 as a game reserve, later was announced as a national park in 1952, home rich with numerous wildlife species of birds over 451 species of birds ,76 mammal species among others. This national park is under the protection and managed by the body governing all the ten nationals plus other conservations known as ‘UWA’ Uganda Wildlife Authority. To visitors accessing Murchison Falls national park are entitled to pay entrance fees in order to partake in activities in the park.

Murchison Falls –entrance fees are levied on visitors aged 18 and above, children are aged 5 years and below entering the national park for free. Children aged 5 -17 years are charged differently .30% of all the revenues collected from the national park is distributed to the communities living around the park.

Travelers entering the national park are expected to pay USD40 for Foreign nonresidents, USD30 for Foreign residents and UGX20,000 for East African members.

Children who are Foreign nonresident get to pay USD20, USD10 for Foreign residents and UGX 5,000 for East African Members. However, Ugandan pupils or students are expected to pay UGX3,000 as park entrance fees. Ugandan students from tertiary institutions entitled to pay entrance fees to Murchison Fall national park exclusive activities done in the park.

Annual park entrance fees

Furthermore, visitors can also pay for park entrance passes annually and it is paid to only visitors who are Foreign residents or East African Members. Addition to this, travelers who wish to acquire annual park entry passes will be acquired to present a valid working permit.

Individual annual park entrance passes cost USD350 for a foreign resident and UGX150,000 for East African community.

Couples are expected to pay USD500 for Foreign residents and UGX200,000 for East African citizens.

A family annual park entry fee caters for a maximum of 4 children and USD700 for Foreign resident and UGX300,000 for East Africa citizens.

Annual Corporate fee costs USD1,500 for Foreign resident and UGX2,500,000 for East Africa community.

A safari Guide is expected to pay UGX100,000 for an annual park entry pass. Fortunately, the safari guide must be East African members.

Same goes to a taxi driver from the East African community who is expected to pay UGX100,000 for the annual park entrance pass.

A tour company driver is allowed to access the park for free. Though, the tour company must be registered in Uganda.

The annual park entrance passes are exclusive for valid activities done to in the national parks like hiking, gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, wildlife viewing, birding and mountaineering many more.

Entrance fees for Vehicles in Murchison falls national park

All vehicles entering the national parks are charged the park entry fees as started by the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Tour company vehicles and 4-wheel drive cars are expected to pay USD150 for Foreign registered vehicles and East African pay UGX30,000 for Ugandan registered vehicles.

Minibuses and Omni-buses are expected to pay USD50 for foreign registered vehicles and UGX30,000 for Uganda registered vehicles.

Pick-ups are expected to pay USD50 for Foreign owned vehicles and UGX30,000 for Ugandan Owned Vehicles.

Over Lander are expected to payUSD150 for Foreign registered vehicles and UGX100,000 for Ugandan registered vehicles.

Buses and lorries are expected to pay USD150 for Foreign registered vehicles and UGX 150,000 for Ugandan registered vehicles.

School buses are expected to pay UGX50,000 for Ugandan registered vehicles.

Boat Landing Fees

Boat operating within Uganda Murchison Falls National Park are expected to pay entrance fees depending on the capacity of the boat.

Boats with 15 seaters and up are expected to pay USD50 for Foreign registered boats and UGX50,000 for Ugandan registered boats.

Launch boat with over 15 seaters are expected to pay USD100 for Foreign registered boats and UGX150,000 for Ugandan registered boats.

Parking fees for boats per day is UGX10,000.

Ferry crossing fees

Ferry cross fees in Murchison Falls National Park are expected to pay according to the weight in tonnes and size of the vehicle that is crossing while using the ferry. It is very important for a traveler to know that the ferry has scheduled times for crossing, meaning you have to keep time or else you will be left behind.

Light vehicle weighing 2 tonnes and below are expected to pay UGX20,000

Medium vehicle weighing 2-5 tonnes are expected to pay UGX40,000

Heavy vehicle weighing 5-10 tonnes are expected to pay UGX80,000

Very Heavy vehicle weighing between 10 to 20 tonnes are expected to pay UGX150,000

Motor Cycles using the ferry to cross are expected to pay UGX5,000.

Passenger using the ferry to cross are expected to pay UGX5,000.

For school buses with children and vehicle drivers are not expected for using the ferry to cross. The above prices are for the scheduled crossing vehicles, one way for transit vehicles and only valid till 7pm.Vehicles with more of 20 tonnes have to request for special approval in order to use the ferry.

Air craft landing fees in Murchison Falls National Park

All the Aircrafts landing in Uganda Murchison Falls national park pay a specific fee depending on the sizes and seats they have. Payments are paid on every time the plane lands at the park while on 2022 Entrance fees Murchison Falls National Park .

All Glider and micro lights are expected to pay USD10 for Foreign registered aircrafts per landing and UGX20,000 for Ugandan registered aircrafts.

A 3 seater plane are expected to pay USD20 for Foreign registered planes and UGX40,000 for Ugandan registered planes.

4 to 6 seater is expected to pay USD40 for foreign registered aircrafts and UGX60,000 for Ugandan registered planes.

7 to 14 seater aircrafts expected to pay USD40 for Foreign registered aircrafts and UGX80,000 for Ugandan registered aircraft.

15-20 seater planes are expected to pay USD60 for Foreign registered aircrafts and UGX100,000 for Ugandan registered aircrafts.

21 seater aircrafts are expected to pay USD60 and UGX120,000 for Ugandan registered aircrafts.

Helicopters are expected to pay USD100 and UGX250,000 per landing.

All aircrafts a fee of UGX10,000 per day as landing park fees. Landing fees are different from the passenger’s entry fees and pilots en-route do not entry fees if they are spending less than 2 hours in the park.

Activities do in Murchison Falls National Park

Game Drives; Private guided game drives in Murchison Falls expected to pay USD20 for both Foreign nonresidents and Foreign residents and UGX20,000 for East African Citizens for day game drives.

Night game drive cost USD30 per person for Foreign and Foreign nonresidents UGX50,000 for East African Citizens.

Only pre-registered vehicles undertake night game drives. Tourists are also required to use UWA guides for the night game drives. Tourists doing a day game drive in the park are expected per vehicles while night game drives are expected to pay per person.

Vehicles are entitled USD30 per person for day game drive in the park and UGX30,000 for East African Citizens. Vehicles are expected USD40 and UGX40,000 per person for night game drives. ’’UWA’’ Uganda Wildlife Authority Executive Buses are expected to pay UGX800,000 per day and inclusive of driver and excludes fuel.

Visitors should note this, the minimum charge for game drive vehicle is an equivalent of 3 persons.

Top of the Falls Walk: A Visitor is charged USD15 per person for Foreign nonresidents, USD10 for Foreign resident and UGX10,000 for East African Members.

Birding: A visitor is charged USD30 per person for both Foreign nonresidents and Foreign residents and UGX15 for East African Members.

Day Nature Walks; A visitor is charged USD15 per person for both Foreign nonresidents and Foreign residents respectively and UGX10,000 for East African Citizens.

Night Nature Walks; A visitor is charged USD40 for Foreign nonresident, USD20 for Foreign resident and UGX15,000 for East Africa Citizens.

Launch –Boat Cruises; A visitor is charged USD30 for both Foreign nonresidents and Foreign residents alike and UGX30,000 for East African citizens. The Boat cruises takes a maximum of 45 people and the trips estimates 2 hours.

Sport Fishing permits; Fishing activities in Murchison Falls National Park costs USD50 for a one day and USD150 for four days. The permits exclude the park entrance charges.

White water rafting; In Murchison Falls national park this activity cost USD50 for both Foreign nonresidents and Foreign residents and UGX50,000 for East African Citizens. It is exclusive from the park entrance fees.
