Detailed itinerary for the safari
Day 1: city tour and transfer to volcanoes national park
On the first day of the safari you will be picked from your lodge after breakfast by your safari driver who will brief you about the safari, check out of the hotel and head to Kigali city for city tour. Kigali city is one of the most organized and green cities in Africa so you will enjoy your stroll in the stay, on the city tour you will visit the presidential palace where you will learn more about the history of Rwanda, visit the Gisozi genocide memorial centre where you will learn more about the 1994 Rwanda’s horrifying genocide and visit local market where you can buy local art crafts. You will have lunch at a hotel in Kigali and then drive to volcanoes national park, from Kigali city it is a drive of 2-3 hours to the park and you are to reach in the park in evening, check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: hiking karisimbi volcano
On the second day of the safari you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast and then drive to Kinigi at the park’s headquarters, at Kinigi you will be briefed about the hiking experience, register for the experience and hire porters. From the headquarters you will start hiking into the forest by 10:00 am, on this activity you go with your packed lunch and hiking essentials such as drinking water, hand gloves, hiking boots and a bag pack. You start hiking into karisimbi volcano and as you hike you encounter beautiful bamboo forests, calderas and many animals living in the forests. Hiking the volcano is a full day activity and you are to spend the night at the camp which you will set up on the volcano.
Day 3: descend karisimbi volcano and transfer back to Kigali
On third day of the safari you will wake up for breakfast and then climb the remaining distance to the summit of the volcano, at the volcano you will enjoy the amazing spectacular views volcanoes like Nyamulagira and Nyiragongo which are active volcanoes, beautiful landscapes and the surroundings. After reaching on the summit you descend the volcano back to kinigi at the park’s headquarters, have lunch then drive back to Kigali town. In Kigali town you will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport marking the end of your safari.
