Nyungwe forest national park hosts 13 species of primates with a huge population of chimpanzees and Rwenzori Colobus monkeys. the forests also host over 300 bird species and numerous orchids and butterflies.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: pickup and transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
- The 1st day of the safari is for pickup from your hotel and transfer to Nyungwe forest national park, after morning breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel by your safari drive then embark on your journey to Nyungwe forest national park. On your way you will have an en-route visit to the Old King’s palace in Nyanza for more insight about Rwanda’s history, you will also have lunch in Nyanza and then proceed to Nyungwe. When you arrive in the park you will check into your lodge and in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking experience
- Chimpanzee tracking experience: The 2nd day of the safari is for an adventurous and memorable chimpanzee tracking experience in the forests of Nyungwe forest, after morning breakfast served at your lodge you will head to Nyungwe forest national park’s headquarters for briefing session in which rules and regulations to be followed on this experience will be read to you. At exactly 6:00 am you will head to the forests of Nyungwe in search for chimpanzees, on the trek you will be able to see many primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, mangabeys and forest birds. When you find the chimpanzee you will be allowed to be with them for only one hour and in this hour you can take pictures and have an opportunity to watch them play on tree branches, pick fruits and leaves for food.
- After the experience you will head back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will return to the park for a guided forest walk on which you will spot many birds and small forest animals, in the evening you will return back to your lodge , have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Depart for Kigali for departure
- Depart for Kigali: The 3rd day of the safari is for transfer from Nyungwe forest national park back to Kigali for your drop off, after early morning breakfast you will meet your safari driver, checkout of your lodge and embark on your journey back to Kigali city. On your way you will have en-route visit to Rwanda national museum in Butare town, have lunch and then proceed to Kigali, upon your arrival you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at Kigali international airport for your departure flight.
