Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

  • Transfer to Queen: You will be met by your guide at your location in Kampala who will brief you about the details of your 4 days trip to Queen Elizabeth national park. After the briefing, you will drive out of the city through the busy streets as you head out of Kampala city. You will have a brief stop at the equator for photography and a visit to the craft shops to see the local artworks.
  • Equator Experience: After the equator experience, you will drive to Mbarara where you will have lunch. After lunch, you will proceed to drive to Queen Elizabeth national park for dinner and overnight at Park view safari lodge.

Day 2: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise

  • Game Drive: You will wake up for an early breakfast at your lodge. After breakfast, you will move with your packed lunches as you go for your early morning game drive. During the game drive, you will drive through Queen Elizabeth national park where you will see the tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector.
  • Boat Cruise: After your game drive, you will return to your lodge to relax as you prepare for your evening boat cruise. You will be driven to the point where you will start your relaxing boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. During the boat cruise, you will see different bird species along the water shores such as cormorants, kingfisher, saddle bills, yellow billed storks, hammerkops, herons, martial eagles, African skimmer, white malachite and many other species. You will also enjoy the sunset in the wild as you watch the hippos swimming in the water and Nile crocodiles lying by the shores as well as buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, waterbucks, leopards, warthogs, forest hogs, reedbucks, duikers grazing in the nearby plains. After the boat cruise, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Park view safari lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzees and community walk

  • Chimpanzee Trekking: You will wake up for an early morning breakfast at your lodge as you prepare for chimpanzee tracking. You will move with your packed lunches and your guide will drive you to Kyambura forest for the chimpanzee trekking activity. On arrival at the forest, you will be briefed by the rangers about the chimpanzee tracking activity after which you will proceed into the forest in search of the chimpanzees. During the chimpanzee trekking activity, you will see a variety of butterflies, bird species in the forest and chimpanzees as well as other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys swinging in the branches as they search for food and groom each other. After chimpanzee tracking, you will return to your lodge for relaxing as you prepare for your community walk.
  • Community Walk: The community walk will engage you in interacting with the local community and you will see their artwork and local crafts that are hand made with local materials. You will also experience their cultural dances and listen to folk tales and myths about their culture among other experiences such as learning how to prepare local food. After the community walk, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Park view safari lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Kampala

  • Return to Kampala: On the last day of your 4 Days Wildlife & Chimpanzee trekking tour in Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will wake up for an early breakfast and check out of the lodge after breakfast.
  • Cultural Experience in Igongo: You will then proceed to drive to Igongo cultural center in Mbarara for another unique cultural experience where you will learn more about the Ankole culture and their long horned cattle. You will also have lunch at Igongo cultural center. 
  • Drop Off: After lunch, you will continue your journey back to Kampala where your guide will drop you off at your preferred location marking the end of your trip to Queen Elizabeth national park.
