Detailed itinerary for the safari
Day 1: Arrival/ pick up and city tour and transfer to volcanoes national park
On the first day of the safari, you will be picked by your safari driver at your hotel after breakfast, he will brief you about safari and drive to Kigali city for a city tour, on the city tour you will visit places like kigali genocide memorial sites which showcases all the facts and information about the 1994 Rwanda genocide, Kimironko market and king’s palace. After the city drive you will have lunch and then embark on your journey to volcanoes national park which is a drive of 2-3 hours, reaching volcanoes national park you will check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: mountain gorilla trekking experiencing and visiting Iby’iwacu cultural village
On the second day of the safari, you will wake up early in the morning for early morning breakfast and then drive to Musanze Kinigi where you will be briefed about the activity. After the briefing you will be grouped into 8 people and also be allocated the group to trek, then you will go into the forest in search for mountain gorillas (trekking is not an easy task because of the terrain but very rewarding). After locating the mountain gorillas in guidance of the ranger guide you will stay for a duration of one hour with the gorillas and in one hour you will take memorable picture as long as your flash light is off. Then you will descend back to the park’s headquarters, drive to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a visit in Iby’iwacu cultural village. In Iby’iwacu cultural village you will be entertained by local dances and songs performed by the locals and also get to interact with the elders of the community which will enable you know more about the local community. After your visit you will drive back to the lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: second mountain gorilla trekking experience and visiting the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo
On the third day of your safari you will wake up early in the morning like the previous day for another amazing mountain gorilla trekking experience, you will have breakfast then be driven to the park’s headquarters in Musanze Kinigi for briefing and then go into the forest in search for mountain gorillas. You are to follow the same methods like yesterday but this time around you are to trek another gorilla family, volcanoes national park is a residence for 10 gorilla families meaning you have many options to choose from. After the trekking you will drive back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go on a visit to the spectacular twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, at the lakes you get to take beautiful pictures and enjoy amazing scenery. From the lake you will drive back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali
The fifth day is the last day of the safari, on this day you will wake up not as early as the previous days, have breakfast at your pace, checkout of your lodge and head back to Kigali city. From volcanoes national park to Kigali city it is a drive of 2 hours, depending on your flight time you will have another city tour visiting places you missed on the first day then have lunch. After lunch you will be driven to either the airport or your hotel for a drop off which marks the end of the safari.
