Mgahinga national park is the second habitat to Mountain gorillas in Uganda and it is also a home to golden monkeys, mountain gorilla trekking in Mgahinga national park is done in Nyakagezi gorilla group consisting of 9 family members such as 9 members, 4 silverbacks, 2 female adults, 1 juvenile and 2 infant.

Detailed itinerary for 4 days Uganda gorilla and golden monkey safari
Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga national park
After early morning breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, you will be picked by your safari driver and embark on your journey to Mgahinga national park, on your way you will have en-route lunch and when you arrive in the park you will check into your lodge and in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla national park
After early morning breakfast at your lodge, you will have meet your safari and with your packed lunch you will head to the park for a mountain gorilla trekking experience, before the beginning of the safari you will converge at Mgahinga national park’s headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking . A game ranger will take you through the rules and regulations to follow while mountain gorilla trekking, the trekked takes about 4-5 hours depending on the movement of mountain gorillas and where they spent the last night. When you find the gorillas you are allowed to stay in the presence of the gorillas for 1 hour while watching the gorillas take care of their young ones, pick fruits and have an opportunity to take beautiful picture. After one hour you will descend back to the briefing point, meet your safari guide and head back to your lodge, in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park
After early morning breakfast at your lodge, you will head to Mgahinga gorilla national park’s briefing spot for briefing about golden monkey tracking, the briefing is conducted by a senior ranger who will take you through dos and don’ts to follow on this experince. After briefing you will hike into the forests of in search for golden monkeys which are found in the bamboo zone of the park. When you find golden monkeys you will be amazed by their cute faces, enjoy seeing them play on bamboo trees and take memorable pictures. On this experience, you are to spend only 1 hour in presence of golden monkeys, after the experience you will descend back to the park’s headquarters, meet your safari drive and head to back to your lodge. You have an opportunity to rest for a while or go for an optional community walk for an interaction with the locals.

Day 4: Departure via Kigali (Rwanda)
After early morning breakfast at your lodge, checkout then embark on a journey to Kigali city in Rwanda, on your way you will enjoy rolling hills Virunga volcanoes and when you arrive in Kigali you will be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight back home.
