Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – transfer to Lake Naivasha – 2-3 hours
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta airport or depending on your location in Nairobi, you will be met by your drive to transfer to Lake Naivasha with views of the Great Rift Valley for stunning views arriving at Lake Naivasha. It’s a 2 hours’ drive to arrive there at a good time for lunch. Check-in at your reserved lodge for lunch. Later afternoon, take a boat safari on Lake Naivasha and be able to see the hippos, ospreys, and other water animals and birds. Dinner and overnight stay at Enashipia Resort and Spa
Day 2: Visit Crescent island – Transfer to Masai Mara national reserve – evening game drive – about 4-5 hours
on the 2nd day of your 5 Days Lake Naivasha and Masai Mara national park safari, after breakfast, visit Crescent Island Game Sanctuary – a peninsula or island on the eastern side of Lake Naivasha. A short boat trip from the mainland out into Lake Naivasha gives you access to the unique Crescent Island Wildlife Sanctuary which hosts giraffes, waterbucks, elands, wildebeests, zebras, and impalas. It is also a haven for more than 200 species of birds. The lake has a lot of hippos which you can easily spot from the island. Among the resident birds are fish eagles, ospreys, lily-trotters, black crakes, and a variety of herons. Thereafter, across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Masai Mara Game Reserve the unspoiled Savannah. It’s a 3-4 hours’ drive, Masai Mara is actually the northern portion of the Great Plains ecosystem in neighboring Tanzania bordering Serengeti national park. It is home to the big five games such as the lion, buffalo, rhino, leopard, and elephant as well cheetah, zebra, giraffe, and vast herds of plain antelope and numerous and other wildlife.
Upon arrival, have lunch then connect for an afternoon game drive in search of the big five. As the sun starts to edge dip into the horizon, it will be the perfect time to photograph the beautiful Mara rolling plains. Don’t forget this is the right time to spot the shy leopard. Day 3: Full day game drive in Maasai Mara
Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and grab your packed lunch and meet your safari driver to head to the plains of Maasai Mara for a full day adventure in this stunning savanna vegetation of Masai Mara as you watch many animals in large numbers such as lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeests, zebras and many more. You will enjoy your picnic lunch and proceed for a game drive till the sun goes down. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight at lodge as above
Day 4: Another day – Full day in Masai Mara – community tour
on the 4th day of your 5 Days Lake Naivasha and Masai Mara national park safari, after breakfast, you will head to the plains of the reserve for the final morning game drive sighting more animals, after the game drive you will head back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will head to the Maasai village/Masai Loita Hills for a cultural experience. On this experience you will enjoy getting a deeper insight into the Maasai culture by interacting with the local Maasai people, be entertained by local dancers, drama and Maasai warriors; buy local Maasai items such as local Maasai Shukas, beautifully made accessories such as necklaces and earrings and taste local cuisines. After the experience, you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight at lodge as above
Optional activity; Hot air balloon – Wake early and be picked up by the air balloon team for your hot air balloon safari which starts in the early morning, just in time for sunrise. For about one hour you will be floating peacefully above the ground, with a bird’s eye view of the African bush below. The capacity for this activity is limited making this a very special and exclusive experience. Breakfast will be provided and thereafter connect back to the lodge.
Day 5: Transfer back to Nairobi – Departures
After morning breakfast at your lodge, you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Nairobi where you will be dropped off at a location you advise or be dropped off at the airport for your onward flight back home. End of Kenya Safari
