Detailed itinerary for the safari
Day 1: pickup and transfer Nyungwe forest national park
On the first day of your safari you will meet and be picked by our company’s representative who will be your drive of the safari either from your hotel room in kigali or at kigali international airport, then you will embark on your journey to Nyungwe forest national park situated in the southwestern part of Rwanda in a drive of 5 hours to the park. On your way you will have lunch in Butare own, when you arrive in the park you will check in your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: chimpanzee tracking experience and canopy walk in Nyungwe forest
On the second day of the safari, you are to wake up early in the morning for morning breakfast and then drive to Nyungwe forest national park for a full day of amazing adventure. In the park you will go to park’s offices for briefing and then start your chimpanzee tracking activity, you will hike into the forest where you will encounter many birds, butterflies, a variety of tree species and most importantly chimpanzees and other primates like baboons, white and black colobus monkeys and many more. After this amazing experience you will drive back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will return to the park for a canopy walk. Canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park a one of a kind experience offering you an eye’s view of the thick forests of nyungwe filled with different tree species, birds and the scenic surroundings. After the activity you will drive back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: transfer to volcanoes national park
The third day of the safari is typically a day of transfer, on this day you will wake up early in the morning for early morning breakfast checkout of your lodge and embark on your journey to volcanoes national park which is approximately a drive of 6-7 hours. On your journey you will enjoy amazing treat of sights of beautiful landscape and you can make a stopover at Lake Kivu where you can take beautiful memorable picture, and also you will have lunch on your way. Upon reaching the park you will check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight as you prepare for the next amazing day of gorilla trekking a head of you.

Day 4: gorilla trekking experience and visiting Iby’iwacu cultural village
The fourth day of the safari is a day of adventure and memorable experience, on this day you will wake up early for morning breakfast and drive to the park’s headquarters for briefing before the start of mountain gorilla trekking experience. After briefing you will hike into the forest in search of one of the 10 gorilla families residing in the forests of volcanoes national park, the time taken to locate the gorilla group depends on the terrain and where the group spent the night. After locating the gorillas you are to stay in their vicinity for one hour of taking pictures and watching the large primates, after the trekking you will drive back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will pay a visit to Iby’iwacu cultural village found in Musanze. In the village you will enjoy local dances, songs and also interact with the locals, after the experience you will drive back to the lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 5: Kigali city tour
The fifth day is the last day of the safari, on this day you will wake up early in the morning, checkout of your lodge after breakfast and start on your journey back to kigali city which is a drive of 2-3 hours, in the kigali city you will have a city tour which involves visits in sites like Gisozi genocide memorial sits, local market and kings palace. In between the tour you will have lunch, after the city tour you will be driven to the hotel or at Kigali airport for a drop off which marks the end of your safari.
