5 Days Uganda Rwanda Primates & Wildlife Safari is one of the tailors made trips that can either start from Kigali or Kampala depending on one’s wish. This 5 days adventure includes chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park, Wildlife viewing adventure in Queen Elizabeth national park and Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park. For our case, this itinerary was designated to start from Kampala Uganda and end in Kigali Rwanda though it can as well start from Kigali and end in Kampala. This 5 days Uganda Rwanda safari (Kibale, Queen and Volcanoes) includes only 5 days and 4 nights.

Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale forest national park
Kampala to Kibale forest national park: On day 1 of 5 days Uganda Rwanda safari (Kibale, Queen and Volcanoes), start your adventure with a hotel pick up in Kampala or Entebbe as early as 8:00am and be driven to Kibale forest national park a home to 13 primate species including Chimpanzees, Vervet monkeys, black and White Colobus monkey, Red tailed monkey, Blue monkeys, and many more that make this park a primate wonder of the world. The driving distance from Kampala to Kibale forest national park takes 5-6 hours with an enroute lunch along the way. Upon arrival, head to your lodge for a relaxed evening or have a guided walk to visit Bigodi wetland the best destination for birders and bird lovers.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest and drive to Queen Elizabeth national park
Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest and drive to Queen Elizabeth national park: After breakfast on day 2 of 5 Days Uganda Rwanda Primates & Wildlife Safari, meet your safari driver for a transfer to the park headquarters in Kanyanchu for a briefing before setting off on your forest walk in search of chimpanzees . This trek lasts from a few minutes to 4 hours depending on the movement of both the chimpanzees and the movement of trekkers in favor of the slowest person in the group. You will be able to encounter with other primates in forest since it harbors 13 primates, mammals, birdlife, butterflies and plenty of tree species. Upon finding the chimpanzees, you will spend only one hour in their presence then exit the forest and be returned to the lodge for lunch after which you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth national park.

Day 3: Morning game drive and Afternoon boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National park
Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise: After breakfast on day 3 of 5 days Uganda Rwanda safari (Kibale, Queen and Volcanoes), you will start your day with a game drive in the Kasenyi plains where all day game drives are conducted. Kasenyi plains harbors several wildlife species that are seen while on a game drive. These include both nocturnal mammals, hunters and other mammals that raise up in the morning to graze and these include; Buffaloes, Uganda kob, Hippos, Elephant, Lions though they are rare and the best way to encounter them closely is by requesting for a lion tracking experience where the rangers use trackers to allocate the lions and then drive you there to view them closely in their territories. After game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and then spend 2-3 hours on a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel where you will view a huge concentration of hippos and other wildlife that visit the water body to quench their thirst.

Day 4: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park:
Game drive and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park: On day 4 of 5 Days Uganda Rwanda Primates & Wildlife Safari, have your breakfast as early as possible then check out of the lodge and be driven to Ishasha sector with a packed lunch box. You will enjoy a game drive looking out for the tree climbing lions which thrill only in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park and the other population of these tree climbing lions is found in Lake Manyara national park in Tanzania. During the game drive to look for the tree climbing lions, you will be rewarded with a view of other wildlife that all thrill in this savanna park of Uganda. After the game drive, you will enjoy a picnic lunch then exit the forest for a drive to Volcanoes national park in Rwanda with a stopover at the park headquarters to obtain your gorilla trekking permit before proceeding with your journey direct to the park for dinner and overnight sleep.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and drive to Kigali for departures
Gorilla trekking and drive to Kigali for departures: Enjoy an early breakfast on day 5 of 5 Days Uganda Rwanda Primates & Wildlife Safari then park all that you need for this last days activity since it should be as perfect as possible after which you will be driven to the park headquarters to attend briefing with other trekkers and finally start the forest walk in search of the endangered mountain gorillas that have been habituated for trekking. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park takes about 2-5 hours with one hour of closely viewing the gorillas as they move on with their daily activities of feeding, breast feeding, copulating and grooming among others. Return to the lodge later on for lunch after which you will check out and be driven to Kigali for departures. If time allows, you will have a brief city tour before departing since Kigali city has plenty of activities to do that are so rewarding.
