Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park
- Transfer to Lake Mburo: You will be met by your guide who will welcome you and brief you about your 6 Days Uganda Expedition tour. After the briefing, you will be driven to Lake Mburo national park with a stop at the equator. You will enjoy a photography moment at the equator and also visit craft shops to see the local arts and crafts. After the equator experience, you will proceed to Lake Mburo national park.
- Check-in: You will check-in at your lodge in Lake Mburo national park and have lunch. You will be driven by your guide to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Mihingo lodge.
Day 2: Nature walk and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
- Nature Walk: You will have breakfast at your lodge before proceeding to enjoy a unique game viewing experience on foot in Lake Mburo national park. During the nature walk, you will see a variety of wildlife species such as topis, duiker, oribi, reedbucks, klipspringer, leopards, impala as you explore the wilderness of this national park on foot.
- Transfer to Queen: After the nature walk, you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth national park for dinner and overnight at Park view safari lodge.
Day 3: Game drive and evening boat cruise
- Morning Game Drive: On the 3rd day of your trip to Queen Elizabeth national park, you will wake up for an early breakfast at your lodge. After breakfast, you will move with your packed lunches as you go for your early morning game drive. During the morning game drive, you will have an experience watching the tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector as they hunt and relax up in the tree branches. You will also see other wildlife species in the savanna plains of this national park where you will have your lunches.
- Boat Cruise: After the game drive, you will return to your lodge for a brief relaxation time as you prepare for the next activity. You will be driven to the Mweya peninsular where you will have a relaxing evening boat cruise as you watch the sunset and see the Rwenzori mountains in the far distance. You will see different bird species such as cormorants which crowd the water shores. Other bird species you will see during your evening boat ride include kingfisher, herons, hammerkops, starlings, martial eagle, and many others. You will also see hippos swimming in the water, buffalos, elephants and other wildlife species strolling not far from the water shore. You will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Park view safari lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi national park and community walk
- Transfer to Bwindi: You will have an early breakfast at your lodge and then proceed to check out of the lodge. After checking out you will be driven to Bwindi impenetrable national park for more adventures. On arrival in Bwindi national park, you will check in your lodge.
- Community Tour: You will have a community tour where you will interact with the local community of the batwa who are forest dwellers that depend on fruit gathering and hunting in the Bwindi forest. You will also learn about their ways of life, watch traditional dance performances, learn about their local herbs and food preparation and many other cultural aspects. After the batwa experience, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Buhoma haven lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking
- Gorilla Trekking: You will wake up for an early morning breakfast at your lodge. After your breakfast, you will be driven to the park headquarters to start your gorilla trekking experience. At the park headquarters, you will be briefed about the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. You will also be divided into groups of 8 people to trek one gorilla group and spend 1 hour with the gorillas. During the gorilla trekking experience, you will follow different trails in the impenetrable forest as you search for the gorillas in their natural habitat. After the gorilla trekking experience, you will trek back to the briefing point at the park headquarters where you will be met by your guide who will drive you back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Buhoma haven lodge.
Day 6: Departure
- Departure: After breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and proceed to drive back to Kampala with a stopover at Igongo cultural center where you will learn different aspects about the Ankole culture such as local ghee making, long-horned cattle, Ankole history and so much more. You will also have lunch at Igongo cultural center. After lunch, you will continue your drive back to Kampala where your guide will drop you off at your preferred location which will mark the end of your trip.
