8 Days Uganda and rwanda safari is a combined safari taking you on a visit to two prominent and amazing tourist destinations in Africa that is Uganda the “the pearl of Africa ” and Rwanda “the land the of hills”. On this safari in Uganda you will visit national parks like Queen Elizabeth national park which hosts many wildlife species such as tree climbing lions, elephants, buffaloes and many more, and mgahinga national park which is a habitat for the endangered mountain gorillas and hosts on family in names of Nyakagezi gorilla family.

Detailed itinerary for the safari
Day 1: arrival in Uganda
The first day of the safari is a day of arrival into Uganda using Entebbe international airport, upon you arrival you will be picked up by your safari driver and head to your hotel in Kampala. Depending on the time of your arrival you can have a Kampala city tour if possible, the city tour will take you on a visit to prominent and significant sites in Kampala such as Kasubi tombs, rubaga cathedral and many more. in the evening you will drive to your lodge, check in, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
The second day of the safari is a day of transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park and an afternoon boat cruise on the kazinga channel, on this you will wake up early in the morning for morning breakfast, checkout of your hotel and start on your journey to queen Elizabeth national park which is a drive of approximately 6 hours. On your way you can make a stopover at the Equator where you can get an opportunity to stand in both north and south hemisphere at one point, then proceed to the park and also you are to have an en-route lunch in fort portal. When you get into the park you will drive to mweya landing site for an afternoon boat cruise on kazinga channel, kazinga channel is a natural channel connecting Lake Edward to Lake George and as you cruise you will enjoy sights of many animals such as hippopotamus and Nile crocodiles along the banks of the savannah, pigs, warthogs, herds of elephants and many more.

Day 3: game drive and transfer to mgahinga national park
The third say of the safari you are to have an early morning game drive and a transfer to mgahinga national park, on this day you will wake up early in the morning for morning breakfast, checkout of your lodge and head to the plains of Queen Elizabeth national park for an early game drive. Queen Elizabeth national park is a home to many animals such as elephants, tree climbing lions in ishasha sector, waterbucks, antelopes, buffaloes and many more which you are to encounter and enjoy sights f as you drive through the savannah plains. After the game drive you will exit the park and head for mgahinga national park which is a drive of 4-5 hours, on your way you will have en-route lunch. You are to get to the park in evening, check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: mountain gorilla trekking and transfer to Rwanda’s volcanoes national park
The fourth day of the safari you are to have a mountain gorilla trekking experience and transfer to volcanoes national park, on this day you will wake up early in the morning for morning breakfast, checkout of your lodge and with your packed lunch you head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about the safari. After the briefing you will be grouped and then climb into the forest for mountain gorilla experience in the Nyakagezi family, time taken locating mountain gorillas depends on the terrain and where they spent the previous night. After find them you are to stay with the gorillas for one hour of taking pictures as long as your flashlight is off and then descend back to the park’s headquarters. From the park’s headquarters you will exit the park and embark on your journey to volcanoes national park of Rwanda. From mgahinga national park to volcanoes national park it is a drive of 2 hours, when you get into the park you will check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 5: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Lake Kivu
On the fifth day of the safari you are to have a golden monkey trekking experience and transfer to Lake Kivu, on this day you will wake up early in the morning for morning breakfast and set off to volcanoes national park for golden monkey trekking. At the park’s headquarters you will be briefed about the safari and proceed in the forests looking for the amazing golden monkeys, as you hike through the forest you will enjoy sights of many other primates like chimpanzees, olive baboons and nature. After the trekking you will drive to your lodge, have lunch, checkout of your lodge and head to Lake Kivu which is in a drive of 2 hours. Upon reaching Lake Kivu you will go for an afternoon boat cruise as a way of relaxation which takes approximately 3 hours while enjoying the serenity and cool breeze of the lake. After the boat cruise you will drive to your lodge, check-in, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 6: transfer to nyungwe forest national park
On the sixth day of the safari you will wake up early in the morning for morning breakfast, checkout of your lodge and embark on your journey to Nyungwe forest national park which is a drive of approximately 5-6 hours. Upon reaching the park you will check into your lodge and have an evening of relaxation, in the evening you will check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 7: chimpanzee trekking
On the 7th day of the safari you will have a chimpanzee trekking experience, on this day you will wake up early in the morning for morning breakfast and head to the park for chimpanzee trekking experience. At the park’s headquarters you will be briefed about the activity and head to the park in search for chimpanzees. As you hike through the forest you enjoy sights of chimpanzees and other primates such as olive baboons, colobus monkeys, many birds and beautiful nature. After the activity you will drive back to your lodge for lunch and in the evening you will have a canopy walk, on the canopy walk you will enjoy an eye’s view of the forests, birds and the surrounding. After the safari you will drive back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 8: transfer to Kigali city and departure
On the 8th and last day of the safari you will wake up for breakfast, checkout of your lodge and embark on your journey to Kigali city which is a drive of 4 hours. Depending on the time of your departure flight you can have a city tour where you will visit prominent sites in Kigali such as genocide memorial sites, king’s palace, the local market and many more. You will have lunch in Kigali city and then be dropped off either at your hotel or Kigali international airport for departure, thus the end of the safari.
