Cuckooland tented lodge lies in the south western side of Uganda at the rim of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park about 40 minutes’ drive from Ruhija gorilla trekking Centre. This lodge is a Mid-range safari accommodation providing very perfect safari tents built and well designed in African architecture.
More so, the lodge overlooks the breathtaking canopy in impenetrable forest quite unforgettable. Cuckooland contain exclusively furnished safari tented houses on wooden platforms with beautiful botanical gardens for relaxation and overlooking of primates and bird species.

Gorilla trekking; This is the landmark safari experience on Uganda safari, which starts an early morning with a short briefing at the park head quarter. Then after at 8:00am head out to the forest trail in search for mountain gorillas and as you will be hiking through dense rain forest you will be able to sight see other species such as birds, primates, mammals like forest elephants among others. The activity can take about 30 to 7 hours depending on their movements in the forest. Once you allocate the gorilla family you’re assigned one hour will be given to you in order to watch them as they play, feed, behaves, build their nest in the evening as well as enjoying photography. Note; we advise you to carry essential that fits the gorilla trekking tours for your achievements include; long sleeved shirt and trousers, comfortable rubber, sweater, rain Jackson, water proof bags, energy giving snacks, enough mineral water, hand graves, warm clothes, binoculars among others.
Nature walks; This activity takes you to visit Bwindi Impenetrable forest trails that enables you walk through different interesting water trails, primates and trails that leads you to local villages around the park.
Cultural visits to Batwa people; You can go visit the Batwa people who used to live with mountain gorilla in the forest in peace. Through visiting these Batwa you will get entertained with their unique traditional dances, storytelling and songs.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda region, estimates about 9 to 10 hours’ drive. Alternatively, you can choose to use a domestic flight from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi Airstrip within 1:30 hours and 30minutes drive from the airstrip to the lodge. The park is home to high number of endangered mountain gorillas with over 650 individuals ,220 mammals and hoven for birders with range of 348 bird species like Dusky twin spot, Regal sunbird, Montane Oriole, Strange weaver, Rwenzori Batis, Handsome francolin, Chapin’s fly catcher among others. Gorilla trekking is the main done activity within park that attracts thousands of tourists each year to come visit these beautiful mountain gorillas in their nature environment.
Getting there; Cuckooland tented safari lodge can be reached within 9 to 10 from Kampala or Entebbe to access the destination. You can decide to use a domestic flight from Entebbe international Airport or Kajjansi by Aerolink Uganda to Kihihi through landing within 1:30 hours.
