Detailed Itinerary of the safari

Day 1: Transfer to Ngamba Island for Chimpanzee Viewing

On the first day of the safari you will be picked from your hotel early in the morning by your safari driver a representative of Focus East Africa Tours after breakfast, then set for Entebbe where you will get a boat on the waters of Lake Victoria to Ngamba Island. Ngamba island chimpanzee sanctuary is a home to 49 orphaned chimpanzees which live in a metallic fenced forest In the sanctuary you will you will be able to watch the chimpanzees, feed them. After the experience you will have lunch, get on a boat ride back to Entebbe, from Entebbe you will drive back to your hotel, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On the second day of the safari you will have breakfast at your hotel in Kampala and with your safari driver you will set off for Bwindi impenetrable national park at exactly 7:00 am on a drive of 7 – 8 hours. On your way southwest of Kampala you will have a stopover at the equator landmark for photography and souvenirs, another stopover will be made in Mbarara for lunch and then proceed to Bwindi impenetrable national park in the southwestern region of the country. In kisoro you will enjoys views of the terraced rolling hills of Kigezi, you will arrive in the park in the late afternoon, check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: mountain gorilla trekking experience

on the third day of the safari you will have early morning breakfast, meet your safari and together with your packed lunch you will drive to the park’s headquarters for briefing session, briefing marks the starts of the mountain gorilla trekking experience and in this session a head ranger will read to you the rules and regulations to be followed while in the presence of the mountain gorillas and on the experience. You will be group into eight, be assigned a gorilla family to trek and hire a porter then start the trek into the forests in search for mountain gorillas. The search for mountain gorillas takes about 3-4 hours or more depending on the terrain and where the gorilla family is situated, when you find the gorillas you are to spend only hour with the gorillas. In the one hour you are free to move around observing the gorillas collecting food, playing with each and as the silverback guides his family, take memorable pictures with your flash light off. After the experience you will trek back o the headquarters and decide whether to go for an optional nature walk in the forests of Bwindi or drive back to your lodge. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala

On the fourth day of the safari you will have morning breakfast, checkout of your lodge and embark on your journey back to kampala for your drop off, you will have a stopover in Mbarara for lunch and when you arrive in Kampala you will be dropped off either at your lodge or at the airport for your departure flight back home.
