Kyambura Gorge Lodge is one of the perfect Mid-range Uganda safari accommodation found in Queen Elizabeth National park owned by Volcanoes safaris and was officially opened in 2009. The lodge lies close to luxury hotel Kyambura Gorge.
The lodge is comprised of 8 cottages which were built using local material and spread out in the African bush to ensure that guests have the required privacy. All rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi that keeps visitors in connection with their friends. They are designed with overlooking balcony and comfortable high end showers, flush toilets, mosquito nets and a working desk many more.
More so, this accommodation has a lounge area, a fireplace where you can sit and get warmth after a long day activity.
They have a nice and clean restaurant with experienced chefs who serves delicious meals both local and international.
The lodge has built raised platforms were guests can go and spot the gorge, savannah and the Rwenzori mountains from a distance.
Since the area is home for chimpanzees and the main done activity here is chimpanzee tracking which can take over 2 hours and more than depending on their movements. Then one hour is given to visitors to watch their amazing behaves while in their nature inhabits.
They have a perfect swimming pool where you can cool off yourself while enjoying amazing views of the African wilderness.
More so, the lodge offers a private garden where local vegetables and fruits are grown and served to visitors at meal time.
While ate night the area is quiet thus enabling visitors to hear animal and insect sounds.
They have friendly and welcoming staff member.
At the fireplace in the evening, you can be entertained through traditional dances and other performances by one of the local tribes.
At the lodge, you can go visit the forest bridge which will help you eliminate inbreeding because the area is open door for the primates to mate with others species.
Kyambura Gorge lodge started the Kyambura Community Café to support the community through training the youth in hospitality management, a community playground where children can play different games.
Meanwhile, the Kyambura Gorge lodge lies on the edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park with sweeping views of the rolling savanna, spectacular view of the mountain of the moon as well as the sunken Kyambura Gorge.
The lodge offers beautiful bandas with amazing views across the open savannah or the gorge. However, it was designed with four deluxe bandas and four standard bandas. More then, the lodge is found in one of the African ‘s most beautiful parks, centered around the waterway of the Kazinga Channel and also boosts with over 600 bird species.
Activities to do at Kyambura Gorge Lodge –Queen Elizabeth National Park
They include; Chimpanzee tracking, Boat cruise, Lion research safari, Game drive in Queen Elizabeth, birding among others.
At visit guests can walk along the Kyambura gorge buffer zone which were created to protect the fragile eco-system from encroachment as well as contributing to its long term conservation projects.
You can search for the lost chimpanzees of Kyambura in the Sunken rainforest and also go birding in Kyambura wetlands.
Game drive; This is the best done activity which is much enjoyed in 4wheel vehicle. The drive can take you to the most adventurous area such as Mweya peninsula a home with huge number of animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, topis, or visit ishasha sector a home to the unique tree climbing lions among others thus marking an excellent place for game driver.
Birding; The park hosts wide range of bird species with over 600 bird species and some of the bird species to see includes; Common sand martin, Collared pratincole, Caspian plover, Broad-billed roller, African finfoot, African hobby, Africa skimmer, Ayres’s hawk eagle, Black bee-eater ,Black-rumped buttonquail among others.
