In general, Malindi Museum is a house of various historical artifacts from Malindi. And is also exhibits containing tradition objects like musical instruments, tools and costumes. To the ethnographic section where the museum contains number of artifacts of the Mijikenda peoples who are ethnic groups that inhabits the Kenyan coast such as wooden totems and ancient artifacts that belonged to Arabs who settle lived in Malindi.
Furthermore, the museum features artifacts specimen from other communities that inhabits the Kenyan coast come along object from the Swahili civilization. Despite that the museum also features with temporary exhibits such as the famous Malindi Coelacanth and still displays artifacts related to the explorer Vasco da Gama as well as exhibitions from the Portuguese period of Kenya’s coastal zone as well as a great location to some of the country’s archeological sites. Additionally, the museum contains the Webb Memorial Library which has books on the history and culture of the Kenyan coast.

However, the building has four entrances where the two are located in the east Façade and of which you can access them through a portico of about 5 rounded pillars. One of the four entrances, you will experience it with an Indian Guajarati while as the other entrance has a Swahili curved door. Then 3rd entrance found on the northern Façade up a stone wall stairway and it also composed of a narrow trap door which is an Indian style and used for ground access and first door. Then the 4th entrance serves only those dropping at the first door and located on the southern Façade being accessed via an outside wooden stair, however, this door will give you access to the terrace of the building.
