Rwanda VISA
Rwanda VISA is the only document that gives you legal permission to move into the country for reasons like tourism, business, conference, visiting friends and family among others. A visa is a document required by all travelers who plan to move from their home country entering another country. However, some countries and some travelers are exempted from the visa requirement due to certain reasons, politically or pertaining to their political status such as international officials from the United Nations organization among others.
The good thing about the visas to Rwanda is; you can obtain your visa at the airport or the border entry point. Thirty days tourist visas are present for all the arrivals to Rwanda, however at a cost. You are entitled to a payment of USD30, which you can, either, pay in euros, dollars or even Rwandan francs; this money can either be paid in cash or use of visa card/ MasterCard. Criteria followed when issuing visas to Rwanda.
The visas to Rwanda are issued based on different measures and aspects such as status among others. The visas to Rwanda are issued as follows;
- Reciprocity; the citizens of the countries with mutual dependence with the republic of Rwanda are granted free visas to Rwanda. The visas issued with the reason pertaining reciprocity have a validity of about 90 days. The countries that are allowed to acquire this kind of visa include, Benin, Central African republic, Chad, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Haiti, Sao tome, Senegal, the East African community, among others.
- Visa waiver for diplomatic and service passports; the government is an agreement with the visa waiver for the holders of diplomatic and service passports, such as officials from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gabon, India, Israel, turkey, and morocco among others.
- The member states that fall under the common market for eastern and southern Africa (COMESA) are eligible to receive a 90 days visa immediately when they arrive at any entry point to Rwanda, plus they are exempted from any payment for the VISA to the republic of Rwanda.
- 30 days visa upon arrival; All the citizens from different countries are allowed to get a visa to Rwanda immediately when they arrive at any entry point like airport and land borders without any first application.
- Rwanda nationals living abroad; a Rwandan nationals living abroad with dual nationality of the country where he or she resides and Rwanda is allowed to use the nationality of Rwanda, such as the national identity of Rwanda on entry into the country. However, for Rwandan nationals traveling on the permission of a foreign passport, are liable to a waive visa fee.
- Foreign residents to use their resident card for entry; the resident of Rwanda returning from another country, are allowed to use the legal resident cards with the matching resident permits when entering into Rwanda, plus the electronic gates at Kigali international airport.
Costs of visa to Rwanda
- Single entry visa to Rwanda is issued at a fee of USD30, however, some countries are exempted from paying this fee, but still, the exemption is valid for 30 days.
- Single entry conference visa to Rwanda are charged a fee of USD30, and this visa is valid for just 30 days.
- The multi-entry visa with the purpose of business is issued at a charge of USD50, and its validity expires within one year.
- An East African tourist visa is meant to cover Rwanda and Tanzania; it allows you to travel to those countries for purposes of tourism, it is issued at a charge of USD100 and its validity expires in 90 days.
Travel health requirement
A yellow fever certificate is one of the requirements that are asked for at the entry pint to Rwanda before a VISA to Rwanda is rewarded to you. Is very important that before you plan to move, you first check whether you need a yellow fever vaccination certificate, you can do this by visiting the national travel health network or the travel health pro website.
Travel documents
The first travel document you need in order to a quire a visa to the republic of Rwanda is a valid passport for at least 6 months from the actual entry day at any entry point to Rwanda. The visa given to you after you present your documents is valid for just 30 days with single entry; the moment you move out of the country the visa expires on spot. You are also not allowed to carry out any business that leads to remuneration with the single entry Rwandan visa. To note, the transit visa, or a visa that allows you to pass through Rwanda, expires within 72hours from the day of issue.
Passport validity
The passports id one of the requirements you have to be with in order to get a visa to the republic of Rwanda. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date when you enter Rwanda. You also need a free page in your passport for the Rwandan visa stamps.
However, the United Kingdom emergency travel document (ETD) can allow the holder entry into the republic of Rwanda, airside transit as well as exist from Rwanda. Despite, if you are entering Rwanda with an ETD, it requires you to present a genuine reason for the use of this document instead of a visa, for example, you have to give proof of residency in the United Kingdom.
All the visitors to Rwanda are eligible for VISA on arrival; this has been prevailing since 1st January 2018. However the visas to Rwanda have a specific period of validity; an entry visa to Rwanda is valid for a period, not more than 30 days, which is also processed within the working days of the week.
Note; a change for the visa type first acquires, such as an extension of the visa expiry date can be done at the office of the directorate general of immigration emigration, but not at land borders and airports. Despite, to change the type of visa or extension, you will need to first satisfy the necessary conditions. Always remember to renew your visa or even change the type of your visa before the current one expires, or else you stand in stake for a penalty of about FRW20000 for a delay of six to 15 days.
