Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Tarangire national park

Arrival & Transfer to Tarangire: You will have a briefing about your safari after meeting your guide. You will be driven to Tarangire national park where you will enjoy an enroute game drive on your way to your lodge where you will have lunch after checking in. You will spend time at your lodge relaxing and later in the evening, you will have an evening game drive where you will see a variety of wildlife species such as elephants, buffalos, zebras, lions, leopards, impalas among others. you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Tarangire Sopa lodge.

Day 2: Full day in Tarangire national park

Full day in Tarangire: After morning breakfast at your lodge, you will have a morning wildlife viewing experience where you will see a variety of wildlife species that are very active at this time of day. You will also spot different bird species as well as attractions such as the Tarangire river where wildlife species gather to drink and can be seen easily. You will return to your lodge after your morning game drive and you will enjoy your lunch and also spend some relaxing time at the lodge. you will have an evening game drive as you explore more of the beautiful scenery of Tarangire national park and watch the sunset in the wilderness. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight after your evening game drive at Tarangire Sopa lodge.

Day 3: Drive to Serengeti national park

Drive to Serengeti: You will have morning breakfast at your lodge and proceed to check out of the lodge. after checking out of your lodge, you will be driven by your guide to another national park in Tanzania’s northern circuit which is Serengeti national park. You will have an enroute game drive in the national park where you will see different wildlife species on your way to your lodge for check-in. You will also have lunch at your lodge and also spend some relaxing time at your lodge.
Evening Game Drive: Later in the evening, you will have another game drive where you will experience the wilderness of the national park as you search for more wildlife species in Serengeti national park such as lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, rhinos which are referred to as the big five. Other wildlife species which can be spotted in the national park during the game drive include wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, hartebeests, hyenas among others as well as a variety of bird species. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Serengeti heritage luxury tented camp.

Day 4: Full day Serengeti national park

Full day Serengeti: On the fourth day of your safari, you will wake up and have morning breakfast. After breakfast, your guide will drive you for your morning game drive where you will spot a variety of wildlife species in the savannah plains of Serengeti national park. You will also see different attractions in the national park such as the retina hippo pool where you will see many hippos swimming. You will also see rock outcroppings known as kopjes where predators such as lions watch their prey and wait to attack. After your morning game drive, you will return to your lodge for lunch.
Evening Game Drive: You will have an evening game drive where you will watch the beautiful sunset and spot the different wildlife species such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, lions, hartebeests, waterbucks, kudus, dik diks among others. you will be driven back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Serengeti heritage luxury tented camp.

Day 5: Drive to Ngorongoro and crater tour and drive to Arusha

Drive to Ngorongoro and crater tour: You will have an early breakfast at your lodge and you will check out of the lodge. After checking out of the lodge, you will proceed to the Ngorongoro conservation area where you will have an optional visit to Ol duvai gorge which is an archaeological site where Dr Louis and Mary Leakey discovered remains of early man. You will proceed to the crater area and you will have lunch before descending into the crater. After lunch, you will continue to Ngorongoro crater where you will see a variety of wildlife species as well as the flamingo filled Lake Magadi which is at the center of the crater. Wildlife species which can be seen as you explore the crater area include wildebeest, hartebeest. Lions. Leopards, cheetahs, zebras among others as well as different bird species.
Drive to ArushaYou will continue and drive to Arusha to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Hhando coffee lodge.

Day 6: Flight to Rwanda

Flight to Rwanda: You will have breakfast at your lodge and then your guide will drive you to the airport where you will proceed for your flight to Kigali. On arrival in Kigali, your guide will welcome you and brief you about your trip and you will proceed to your hotel where you will check-in and have dinner and overnight at Des Milles Collines hotel.

Day 7: City tour and drive to Ruhengeri

City tour and drive to Ruhengeri: You will have breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you will check out of your hotel and your guide will drive you around Kigali city where you will enjoy beautiful views of the distant hills as well as the different attractions around the city like Kimironko market and the genocide memorial site. You will also have lunch in Kigali and then you will proceed to Ruhengeri where you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight at Le Bambou gorilla lodge.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park: You will have breakfast at your lodge and your guide will drive you to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by the Rwanda Development Board officials about your gorilla trekking activity. After briefing, you will proceed in your quest to search for the gorillas in their natural habitat which is characterized by bamboo slopes and a generally rugged landscape. You will return to the briefing point where your guide will be waiting to drive you back to your lodge for lunch and to spend a relaxing time.

Cultural Experience: You will have a cultural experience where you will interact with the local community at Iby’iwacu village. During your visit to the community visit, you will enjoy cultural dances such as the intore dance as well as getting to know more about the Kinyarwanda culture. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Le Bambou gorilla lodge.

Day 9: Transfer to Nyungwe

Transfer to Nyungwe: After breakfast at your lodge, you will check out of the lodge and you will be driven to Nyungwe forest national park. You will have a stopover at Lake Kivu and proceed to have lunch. After lunch, you will proceed to Nyungwe forest national park where you will check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight at Gisakura visitor’s center.

Day 10: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Kigali

Chimpanzee trekking: You will have an early breakfast at your lodge ahead of your chimpanzee tracking activity. Your guide will drive you to the briefing point where you will be informed about the rules and procedures of chimpanzee trekking. You will continue into the forest after your briefing as you look out for the chimpanzees which can be seen swinging from the tree branches in Nyungwe forest. You will also see many other primate species in the forest such as red tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys, L’hoest monkeys, owl-faced monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons among others. different plant and bird species are also found in Nyungwe forest and can be seen during the chimpanzee tracking activity.
Return to Kigali: After your chimpanzee tracking activity, you will return to the briefing point and your guide will drive you to Butare where you will have lunch. You will continue to Kigali after lunch and you will have a city tour where you will visit the Kimironko market and genocide memorial sites. After your city tour, your guide will drop you off at your preferred location in Kigali which will mark the end of your safari.
