10 Days Uganda and Rwanda primates safari is an experience filled with a variety of activities to engage in and many attractions to visit both in Uganda and in Rwanda which include a visit to Kibale national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, Bwindi impenetrable national park, Volcanoes national park for activities such as gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking, a boat cruise, a cultural experience as well as golden money trekking starting from Entebbe and ending in Kigali as seen in the itinerary below;

Detailed itinerary
Day 1; Arrival and drive to Entebbe
- Arrival and drive to Entebbe: You will be picked up from the airport by your guide who will welcome you and brief you about your 10 Days Uganda and Rwanda primates safari. After the short briefing, you will be driven to Entebbe where you will check-in at your hotel for lunch.
- After lunch, you will visit the botanical gardens for the experience of being surrounded by nature and a relaxing environment along the shores of Lake Victoria. You will also visit the reptile village to see the different reptile species found in different parts of the country. Your guide will drive you back to your hotel for dinner and overnight which will end your first day of the safari.
Day 2; Drive to Kibale national park
- Drive to Kibale: After having breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe, you will check out of the hotel ahead of your drive to Kibale national park. You will have a stopover to visit the Amabere ganyinamwiru caves which you will explore in the company of your guide. You will also enjoy visits of the crater lakes which offer amazing photo opportunities and scenic views.
- Visit the tea plantations: You will continue your drive to Kibale national park where you will check in at your lodge and have your lunch. You will visit the tea plantations later for an experience of engaging in the tea picking process and exploring the plantations. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge after your activity of the evening.
Day 3; Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp visit
- Chimpanzee trekking: You will begin the 3rd day of your 10 Days Uganda and Rwanda primates safari with breakfast at your lodge as you prepare to engage in your chimpanzee trekking activity. You will be driven by your guide to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will continue into the forest to search for the chimpanzees in their forested habitat where you will see other primate species such as black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, olive baboons, vervet monkeys as well as a variety of bird species.
- Bigodi swamp visit: Lunch will be served at your lodge after your chimpanzee trekking activity and later you will visit the Bigodi wetlands for a birding experience to see bird species such as yellow billed barbets, warblers, papyrus gonolek, and white spotted fluff tail among others. You will return to your lodge to have dinner and overnight as the night before.
Day 4; Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park and boat cruise
- Transfer to Queen Elizabeth: You will have breakfast at your lodge in Kibale national park before checking out of the lodge ahead of your drive to Queen Elizabeth national park. Upon arrival in the national park, you will be driven to your lodge as you enjoy seeing wildlife species grazing in the nearby savannah plains such as giraffes, buffalos, zebras, antelopes among others on your way to your lodge for check in and to have lunch.
- Boat cruise: After you have enjoyed your lunch, you will prepare to have a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel which is formed where Lake Albert meets Lake George. During your boat cruise, you will see wildlife species such as hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water as well as other wildlife species grazing in the nearby plains. A variety of birds also flock the shores of the lake and can be seen such as king fishers, martial eagles, hammerkops, warblers, pelicans and many others. As you enjoy the sunset, you will return to your lodge to have dinner and to spend the night.
Day 5; Drive to Bwindi national park and nature walk
- Drive to Bwindi: You will start the 5th day of your 10 Days Uganda and Rwanda primates safari with breakfast served at your lodge in Queen Elizabeth national park before you check out of the lodge. You will proceed with your transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park to engage in other activities which will begin with check in at your lodge for lunch.
- Nature walk: Another activity of the day in Bwindi national park will be a guided nature walk to experience the beautiful nature of the forest filled with a variety of bird species and tree species and to enjoy nature photography as you relax and enjoy the scenery. You will return to your lodge for your dinner and overnight.
Day 6; Gorilla trekking and Batwa experience
- Gorilla trekking: On the 6th day of your safari, you will start with breakfast served early at your lodge as you prepare to go to the national park headquarters for a briefing by park officials. After your briefing, you will be assigned groups and then you will continue to venture into the Bwindi forest in search of the gorillas which you will be allowed to spend with about 1 hour with the gorillas and then you will return to the briefing point.
- Batwa experience: You will return to your lodge and there will be am optional activity of interacting with the Batwa community who have a unique culture and used to be forest dwellers surviving on Bwindi forest for survival. During your community visit, you will engage in activities such as traditional dance performances, listening to folk stories, learning about traditional food preparation among other activities. You will return to your lodge after this activity and you will prepare to have dinner and to spend the night at the lodge.
Day 7; Drive to Lake Bunyonyi
- Drive to Lake Bunyonyi: After breakfast and checking out of your lodge in Bwindi national park, you will continue your journey to Lake Bunyonyi where you will check in at a lodge as you prepare to engage in a variety of relaxing leisure activities on the lake such as a boat ride and swimming.
- Boat ride: You will see different islands along the lake during your boat ride such as the punishment island which has a significant role in the local community since it was an island where unmarried girls were punished for getting pregnant. You will enjoy views of the terraced hills during your boat ride and later return to the shore for your lunch and to spend the rest of the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.
Day 8; Transfer to volcanoes national park
- Transfer to volcanoes: Breakfast will be served at your lodge before you check out and continue your journey to the Katuna border as you prepare to cross to Rwanda where you will be driven to Volcanoes national park. After checking in at your lodge in Volcanoes national park and having lunch, you will later have an optional community visit to interact with the local community and to learn more about their traditional way of life, you will also see local art and craft work and watch the graceful traditional dances of the Kinyarwanda culture. You will return to your lodge for dinner and to spend the night on 8th day of your safari.
Day 9; Golden monkey trekking
- Golden monkey trekking: You will have breakfast at your lodge as you prepare to have a golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes national park. After park officials brief you about your activity, you will continue your search for the golden monkeys and spend about 3 to 5 hours during the golden monkey trekking activity. You will return to your lodge for lunch after your golden monkey trekking activity and to spend the rest of the day at leisure. You will have an optional evening nature walk in the national park to explore its surroundings and the beautiful scenery and nature. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge as the day before.
Day 10; Transfer to Kigali
- Transfer to Kigali: As you come to an end of your 10 days safari, you will have breakfast before you check out of your lodge in volcanoes national park. You will continue for a visit to the twin lakes before proceeding to Kigali where your guide will drop you off at a location of your preference marking the end of your safari.
