Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pickup from Kampala/Entebbe and Transfer to Murchison Falls NP- Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

You will enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel in Kampala or Entebbe and then be picked by our driver–a guide to brief you about the safari tour for 11 Day Best Uganda and Rwanda Safari. You will start on the long drive to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a rhino-tracking experience. After tracking, check out the sanctuary and drive to Masindi town for lunch. Proceed to Murchison Falls arriving in the afternoon and drive to the Top of the Falls where you will get excited about the thundering waterfalls and memorable photography for your future remembrance.

Murchison Falls National Park is the largest park in Uganda, covering almost 4000 square Kilometers which is a habitat for a diversity of animals among other attractions. Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise

A full day of game viewing at Murchison; begins with a morning game drive, on the lookout for elephant, buffalo, giraffe, antelope, lion, leopard, and jackal. If luck is really on our side, we may encounter one of Murchison’s few cheetahs.

In the afternoon, you will take a boat trip to the base of the 43m high falls. This is also a good opportunity to spot a few of Murchison’s 460 bird species including the shoebill stork and goliath heron. You will also see one of Africa’s densest hippo and crocodile populations. Dinner and overnight at Pakuba Safari Lodge (Midrange)/ Parkside Safari Lodge (Budget)

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park.

Have breakfast and then drive to Kibale. En- route, you will visit the Amabere Ganyinamwiru stalagmites and waterfalls site in Fort Portal as well as the crater lakes. Have lunch and continue to drive to Kibale arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Turaco treetop (Midrange)/ Chimpanzee Guesthouse (Budget)

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trek and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After an early breakfast on day 4 of the 11 Day Best Uganda and Rwanda Safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to drive you to Kanyanchu Visitors Centre for a chimpanzee trekking briefing about the rules, regulations, and expectations about the activity. After the briefing, you will be accompanied by the park ranger to lead you through the forest trails to look out for the chimpanzees.

Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on their location. On finding them, you will spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their lifestyle, and behaviors, watch them feed, enjoy the juveniles playing up in the trees, take photos, and capture videos.

After a great time with these great apes, you will trek back to the park headquarters to meet up with your driver guide and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, you will have en-route lunch and enjoy impressive views of the Rwenzori Mountains, Lake George, tea plantations many more.

Upon arrival, you will have an evening game drive in the park where you expect to explore a bucket of animals such as the herds of elephants, buffalos, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and warthogs among others. After the game drive, return to the lodge check-in, have dinner, and overnight at Elephant Hub (Midrange)/ Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge (Budget)

Day 5: Morning game drive/ Optional Lion Tracking Experience and afternoon boat cruise

Morning game drive,

Wake up and have an early breakfast on day 5 of the 11 Day Best Uganda and Rwanda Safari. Your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive or optional lion tracking experience. During the game, drive expect to have beautiful views of the sunrise and all the big four animals to see like lions, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes, other animals to see include waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, views of different bird species many more. Return to the lodge after your game drive for lunch.

Afternoon boat cruise, after lunch you will go visit the landing site near Mweya safari lodge for a memorable boat cruise along Kazinga channel which is a 40km long channel that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. During the boat trip which lasts for about 2 hours expect to view large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, view buffaloes, elephants, and warthogs drinking water along the banks, view water birds such as yellow-billed stork, cormorants, hornbills, African skimmer, kingfishers, fish eagles many others.

You will also be able to see the fishermen along the shores preparing their fishing gear for night fishing, take memorable pictures many more. After the boat cruise, you will go for an evening game drive where you will be able to view some of the animal species that you have missed out on in the morning session. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up and start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable forest Park, after your breakfast. You will have lunch en route. Arrive in the evening, check-in at the lodge and relax. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Haven Lodge (Midrange)/ Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Budget)

Day 7: Gorilla Trek and Optional Batwa Cultural Tour

After an early morning breakfast, embark to the park headquarters for briefing. After briefing go search for the assigned gorilla family. The trekking can take you about 2- 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla in the wild. You will stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour, then return and relax at the lodge.

Later in the evening, you can choose to do an optional visit to the neighboring Batwa communities and get to interact with the friendly locals, enjoy their traditional dance, and also get to learn about their unique culture. Day 8: Transfer to Volcanoes NationaPark

Have breakfast and transfer to Volcanoes National Park. The drive goes through the beautiful countryside and people’s homesteads along with spectacular views of the Virunga Volcanoes. On arrival at Ruhengeri, check in at your booked lodge for lunch. Spend the rest of your afternoon at leisure relaxing at your lodge as you get ready for the next day’s activity. Day 9: Golden Monkey Trek and Iby’iwacu Village Tour

Wake up and enjoy your excellent breakfast served with snacks at the lodge. Go at the park headquarters for a briefing about Golden Monkey trekking. Later, you will head into the cold and misty forested slopes of Virunga National Park for your primate trek.

The trek can be anywhere between 2 to 5 hours depending on the movement of the primates. Once you find them, you will be allowed one hour to watch and take photos after you hike back to the meeting Centre.

Meet your driver/guide and drive back to the lodge. After lunch, you will head out for a cultural tour at Ibyi’wacu Cultural tour. Get to learn more about the locals and how they have been transformed from being poachers and have been integrated into the park’s conservation programs.

You will also experience a visit to the former King’s Palace, dress in traditional Rwandan attire, and watch dance performances from the local dance troupe. Dinner and overnight stay at Tiloreza Volcanoes Eco Lodge (Midrange)/ Amikus Hotel (Budget)/

Day 10: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Have breakfast in the morning and embark on about 7 hours’ drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park with a stopover for lunch en route. Enjoy the beautiful scenery including Lake Kivu as you drive through Rwanda’s countryside. Upon your arrival in the park in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Day 11: Canopy Walk and Transfer to Kigali and Departure.

Wake up in the morning and have a sumptuous breakfast at your lodge. You will then check out and meet up with your driver guide to drive you to the park Centre point for your morning briefing about the canopy walk.

 You will then head on about a 2 hours hike along the famous canopy walkway.  This is a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the thrilling rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting some of the wildlife roaming around the park’s landscape.

You will then, drive back to Kigali with a stopover at the King’s Palace in Nyanza as well as the National Museum in Butare. You will be dropped off at a hotel of your choice in Kigali City or Kigali International Airport for your late departure flight.
