Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: White Rhino trekking and transfer to Gulu for overnight
White Rhino trekking and drive to Gulu: Be ready for a pick up from either your hotel or direct from the airport early in the morning on day 1 of 15 Days Uganda Primates & Birding Safari and set off on a driver to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a 2 hour Rhino trekking adventure. This is the only opportunity you have to spot the big 5 African game since the rhinos are only protected in a sanctuary and not in the park. Well, after trekking white rhinos, you will be driven to a hotel for lunch then proceed with your journey to Gulu where you will spend an overnight ready to head to Kidepo the next day.
Day 2: Drive to Kidepo valley national park
Drive to Kidepo valley national park: Enjoy an early morning breakfast on day 2 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, wildlife & Birding tour, then check out of the lodge in Gulu where you spent an overnight and proceed with your drive to Kidepo valley national park. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by a stunning vegetation cover that harbors plenty of fauna and flora species making it look so stunning and worth a visit. While on a Uganda adventure. Head to your lodge for check in and lunch then e, bark on an evening game drive to spot some of the mammals including herbivores, hunters, nocturnal mammals and many more that thrill in this park. Later in the evening as the sun goes down, return to your lodge for dinner and have an overnight sleep.
Day 3: Full day excursion in Kidepo valley national park
Full day game viewing in kidepo valley national park: After breakfast on day 3 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, meet your Uganda safari driver/ guide and head out into the wilderness of Kidepo valley to enjoy an early morning game drive amidst several wildlife species including mammals, birds, and thrilling vegetation cover. After morning game drive, return to the lodge for lunch then return for an evening game drive since you have a full day to spend on a game drive adventure in this stunning and evergreen savanna park in Uganda. After game drive, you may head to south Sudan border to visit the hot springs before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight sleep.
Day 4: Drive to Murchison falls national park
Drive to Murchison falls national park: After enjoying an early morning breakfast on day 4 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, check out of the lodge and meet your safari driver for an enroute game drive as you exit Kidepo valley national park and head to Murchison falls national park. Being a full day drive, you will enjoy an enroute lunch on your way to Murchison. Upon arrival at the park, you will check in your lodge, have dinner and overnight rest awaiting the next day’s adventure.
Day 5: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
Game drive and boat cruise in Murchison falls national park: Enjoy your early morning breakfast on day 5 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour then meet your safari driver for an early morning game drive in the plains of Murchison falls national park. Being the largest savanna park in Uganda, you will be able to spot most of the mammals including those seen previously in Kidepo valley national park. After game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and embark on an afternoon boat cruise upstream to the base of Waterfall while spotting plenty of mammals and birds along the shores of Nile River. There is yet an option of Top of falls hike which is usually enjoyed alongside boat cruise that takes you on a 45 hike to the summit of the world’s most powerful waterfall.
Day 6: Drive to Kibale forest national park
Drive to Kibale forest national park: After breakfast on day 6 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, meet your safari driver once again after checking out and be ready for a transfer from Murchison falls national park direct to Kibale forest national park which is yet a full day drive with an enroute lunch. Upon arrival, check in your lodge, freshen up as you wait for dinner then grab an overnight sleep.
Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking and guided bigodi nature walk
Chimpanzee trekking and Bigo nature walk: On day 7 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, wake up for an early morning breakfast then pack some snacks, drinking water and anything you will need during chimpanzee trekking and meet your driver for a transfer to Kanyanchu Visitor’s center for briefing after which you will penetrate the forest and start the adventure of trekking the chimpanzees that have already been habituated and ready for trekking. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park lasts from a few minutes to about 5 hours depending on the movement of these primates. Upon finding them, you have only 1 hour in their presence taking photographs and closely interacting with these chimpanzees then exit the forest and return to your lodge for lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you will return to the wilderness with in Bigodi wetland where you will be able to watch plenty of bird species, mammals, primates as well as botanical species. Later on, exit the swamp back to the lodge for dinner for overnight.
Day 8: Drive to Semliki national park, Visit hot springs and night game drive
Drive to Semliki National park: Wake up early for breakfast on day 8 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, check out of the lodge ready for a drive to Semliki national park where you will arrive in time for lunch then embark on a walk to visit the hot springs. Try boiling a raw plantain or egg in the hot spring and in a few minutes it will be hard boiled and ready for consumption. After the nature walk, return to the lodge for a brief relaxation then embark on a night game drive to spot the nocturnal mammals that thrill in this park. Semliki national park is one of the best park for night game drives in Uganda with plenty of attractions to encounter while late in the night.
Day 9: Drive to Queen Elizabeth national park
Drive to Queen Elizabeth national park: On day 9 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, enjoy your served breakfast in time then check out of the lodge and be ready for a drive from Semliki national park to Queen Elizabeth national park with a stopover at Crater lakes. Upon arrival, you will check in your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 10: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
Morning Game drive and afternoon: After breakfast on day 10 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, meet your safari driver/guide for a transfer to Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth national park where all morning game drives are conducted. During morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park, be ready to spot as many mammals, birds and stunning flora species as possible. Return to the lodge for lunch then embark on afternoon Kazinga channel boat cruise amidst crocodiles, hippos and several bird species among others.
Day 11: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park: After breakfast on day 11 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, check out of the lodge and be ready for a transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park via Ishasha sector where you will enjoy a brief game drive in search of tree climbing lions. Lunch will either be enroute at any hotel or a picnic lunch. Upon arrival in Bwindi, proceed to check in your reserved lodge for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 12: Mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national park
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park: After an early morning breakfast on day 12 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, pack all the necessary gorilla trekking gears and be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering into the forest to start the adventure of searching for these endangered mountain gorillas. During briefing, you will get to learn more about gorilla trekking, the dos and don’ts during gorilla trekking and all other crucial information necessary while in the wilderness with gorillas. After briefing, hire a porter and meet the ranger guides to start the trek in the impenetrable forest of Bwindi. During gorilla trekking, look out for all other forest dwellers including other primates, mammals, birds, butterflies and identify different plant species among others. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi lasts from a few minutes to about 7 hours depending the movement of gorillas and trekkers. Once you find the gorilla family, you will be allowed just 1 hour in their vicinity taking photographs and closely interacting with these gorillas then exit the forest and return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. There is an option of evening Batwa experience.
Day 13: Golden Monkey trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park and transfer to Lake Mburo National park
Golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga national park: After breakfast on day 13 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, pack some snacks, drinking water and a lunch box then be transferred to Mgahinga national park for golden monkey trekking. Trekking golden monkeys lasts for about 2-3 hours with only 1 hour of close viewing these beautiful primates in their natural habitats. After trekking golden monkeys, exit the forest, enjoy your packed lunch box and head to Lake Mburo national park where you will spend your overnight.
Day 14: Game drive, boat cruise and walking safari in Lake Mburo National park
Morning Game drive, boat cruise and walking safari: On day 14 of 15 days Uganda Safari with Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife & Birding tour, enjoy your breakfast then head out for an early morning game drive to spot several mammals that reside in this small savanna park. After game drive, have lunch and embark on afternoon boat cruise within the park to spot some aquatic wildlife that thrill near the water bodies. Later in the evening, you will head out for a guided walking safari to different parts of the park.
Day 15: Drive to Kampala /Entebbe for departures
