Detailed itinerary of the safari
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Mount Elgon
- Transfer from Kampala to Mount Elgon: On the first day of the safari your safari drive will pick you up after breakfast, your safari driver will give you a short briefing about the journey then set off for Eastern Uganda along the border of Uganda and Kenya. On your way you will have a stopover in Mbale for lunch and then proceed to the volcano, upon arrival you will go for a walk to Sipi falls, Sipi falls is considered as Uganda’s romantic waterfall and a series of three waterfalls. Sipi waterfalls are situated at the starting point of hiking mountain Elgon, at the falls you will enjoy magnificent views of the falling water, caves, cliffs, gorges and take amazing pictures.
- In the evening you will return to the lodge, have dinner and stay overnight
- Accommodation is got from Sipi falls Rest camp or Sipi River lodge
Day 2: hike on Kapkwai trail
- hike on Kapkwai trail: On the second day of the safari you will have early morning breakfast, with packed lunch you will leave for Kapkwai exploration centre for briefing and acquiring hiking equipments. From the centre you will hike through mountain bamboo trail which is off 7 kilometers, on this trail you will visit the gorge together with its southern gorge and the gorgeous river which will give you an exciting memorable hiking experience. You will descend back to the lodge and in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight
Day 3: hike on Sasa trail and descend back to your lodge
- hike on Sasa trail and descend back: On the 3rd of the safari you will have breakfast and set off for hiking on the amazing Sasa trail, Sasa trail is the busiest trail used while hiking mountain Elgon. This trail leads to Wagagai peak and as you hike you encounters green forest, flowering plants and Mudangi cliffs, you will enjoy your packed lunch and amazing landscapes then descend back to our lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 4: Morning forest walk and return to Kampala
- Morning forest walk and return to Kampala: On the 4th and last day of the safari, you will have early morning breakfast and go for a forest wall, on the forest walk you will enjoy sounds of the birds singing on top of forest trees, sights of birds and various species of plants and flowers. After the experience, you will set off for Kampala, on your way you will have en-route and when you reach in kampala you will be dropped off at the hotel or at the Entebbe international airport for your departure flight.
