Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park – Bigodi swamp
Depending on your location in Kampala, you will be met by our company representative/driver guide and start your 6 hours’ drive to Kibale forest national park in the western part of Uganda with stopovers to stretch and lunch.
Proceed to Kibale forest and connect to explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The reserve is abundant with butterflies, plants, animals and, in particular, birds. Spectacular birds like Great Blue Turaco and rare Papyrus Gonolek will be of great interest to birders. The swamp is also home to more elusive animals such as Red Colobus monkeys and Sitatunga antelope. There is also the opportunity to visit local community projects that have been financed by tourism. Proceed to your lodge with en route visit of the crater lakes visit. Dinner and overnight stay at Chimpanzee Forest Lodge for mid-range/Kibale forest lodge for budget
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking activity and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After breakfast, drive to Kibale park head offices for briefing about the chimpanzees. Enter the forest and start trek the chimpanzees in their natural habitat, its take 2-5 hours to find them and on finding them, you are allowed 1 hour to be in their process as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor.
In the afternoon, transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. It’s a 3 hours’ drive and upon arrival, connect for an evening boat experience along the Kazinga channel. Proceed to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Bush Lodge for budget/Elephant Hub for mid-range
Day 3: Morning game drive in kasenyi and Ishasha – transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
after early morning breakfast, connect for a morning game drive in Kasenyi area – – a known mating ground for kobs and a hunting ground for lions. While on the game drive, expect to see some of the big four game including Lions, Leopards, Hyenas on a lucky day, the Elephants, Buffaloes, also different species of antelopes, and warthogs just to mention a few.
Thereafter, connect to Ishasha sector for yet another game drive for chances of spotting the tree climbing lions and other missed animals. Have en-route luncha and set off for for Bwindi forest. It’s a 4-5 hours arriving late afternoon, check-in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Community Rest camp for budget/Buhoma Haven Lodge for mid-range
Day 4: Gorilla trekking experience
After enjoying an early breakfast and transfer to park headquarters for briefing before you set of gorilla trekking. Trekking through the steep, densely forested hills and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment. Tracking in the Bwindi forest requires stamina and can often take most of the day and spend an hour in the presence of the gorillas before you return at your meeting point with the driver-guide.
Later afternoon, visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience. Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at lodge
Day 5: Transfer to Kampala – Entebbe
After breakfast, start your journey back to Kampala/Entebbe with en-route stop at the Equator and lunch. It’s a 8-9 hours’ drive. Upon arrival and depending on your drop off advice, you will either be dropped at a location you advise the driver or at the airport for your departure flight back home.
