On this safari, you visit  Bwindi impenetrable national park situated in Uganda and Volcanoes national park situated in Rwanda. This safari begins in Uganda and ends in Rwanda

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi impenetrable national park 

• Transfer from Kampala: On the first day of the safari you will be picked from your hotel in Kampala early in the morning after breakfast  by your safari driver, your safari driver will give you a short briefing about the safari then set off for Bwindi impenetrable national park in south western Uganda. On your way you will have en-route lunch in Mbarara and when you reach the park you will check into your lodge and in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight. 

Day 2: mountain gorilla trekking experience

• mountain gorilla trekking: On the second day of the safari you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast then drive to the park’s headquarters about mountain gorilla trekking experience, a guide will read you the rules to be followed while trekking for mountain gorillas. With your packed lunch you will head into thick forests of Bwindi in search for mountain gorillas, the search for mountain gorillas takes approximately 3-5 hours depending on the terrain and movement of the mountain gorilla family you are assigned to trek. According to mountain gorilla trekking rules and regulations you are to spend one hour in the presence of mountain gorillas and in one hour you are free to take pictures and enjoy amazing sights of the huge mountain gorillas and many more.  From the forests you will trek back to the park headquarters and either go for an optional Batwa trail experience or drive back to your lodge, in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight. 

Day 3: Transfer to volcanoes national park 

• Transfer to volcanoes: On the 3rd day of the safari you will have breakfast and set off for Volcanoes national park in Rwanda, from Bwindi impenetrable national park to Volcanoes national park it is a drive of approximately. When you get in the park you will check into your lodge, have lunch and in the evening you will go for a local community visit in the Iby’Iwacu cultural village. On your visit you will enjoy local cultural activities such as demonstration of hunting skills, weaving of baskets, dressing code of the Rwandese people and many more. In the evening you will return to your lodge, have dinner and stay over

Day 4: mountain gorilla trekking experience 

• mountain gorilla trekking experience: On the 4th day of the safari you will have early morning breakfast and with your packed lunch you will head to the park’s headquarters at exactly 6:00 am for briefing, the briefing is done by a head ranger who reads safari rules and regulation to follow to the trekkers and also trekkers are grouped in o groups of 8. you will head into the forests of volcanoes national park in search for mountain gorillas, the act of looking for mountain gorillas takes approximately 3-4 hours or more depending on the movement of the mountain gorillas and terrain. Upon finding mountain gorillas you are allowed to be in presence of mountain gorillas for only one hour and in this hour you get to take pictures and enjoy sights of these huge animals. When an hour elapses you will trek back to the park’s headquarters, then either head to the Iby’Iwacu cultural village for an option local encounter or to your lodge to rest. in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight. 

Day 5: Kigali city tour and drop off

• Kigali city tour and drop off: On the 5th and last of the 5 Days Uganda and Rwanda mountain gorilla double trek safari, you will have breakfast, check out of your lodge and set for Kigali, from Volcanoes national park to Kigali it is a drive of approximately 3 hours and when you get in Kigali city you will embark on a short city tour. In Kigali you will visit sites like the Kimironko market for handmade crafts and souvenirs, Kigali genocide memorial site to learn more about the Rwanda genocide of 1994, you will have lunch and then be dropped off either at the lodge or at Kigali international airport for your departure flight.
