Haller park Kenya is a sheer nature park adventure found in Bamburi –Mombasa on the Kenyan coast that inhabits with variety of plant and animal species which serve as life recreation spot for visitors and locals till up to March 2007 it held the attraction of Owen and Mzee as well as a home for hippopotamus and a tortoise to explore while on Kenya Safaris .
Historically, Haller park started in 1952 as cementia Holding searched for a site at the East African coast to consult cement factory. However, the area become inhospitable arid wasteland with brackish water and the Bamburi cement company decided to rehabilitate the quarries which seemed to be a difficult task. In the 1959 the place was hired as manager of the garden department and given the task to beautify the area. Then in the 1970s Haller embarked on the reforestation project of planting the tree species over 3,000 trees in the hard coral which led to the development of forest area, road as well as pathways that were used by the employees who were working on the propagation of tree species, building of fish ponds and wildlife sanctuary. After few years passing, the sanctuary began to attract people with its tourist attractions such the scenic green nature and species. F or that reason Dr Haller choose to develop an idea of the nature trail so as to create order of the visitors. Then after, this nature trail was made open to the public in a year 1984 and within that period they received a number of visitors in its first year of opening.
Generally, Haller Park is known as the Bamburi Nature Trail which sits in a former limestone quarry of Bamburi Cement Limited. It is a home to variety of wildlife species including giraffes, hippos, buffaloes and antelopes as well as smaller mammals and notable birdlife. More so, this park it’s a great place to visit where you can wonder around for an hour watching and stroking giant Turtle, hippos, crocodiles, snakes, butterflies, buffaloes, eland, giraffes close up for more exciting to visitors.
Furthermore, the park is located in Mombasa being a home rich in wildlife such as waterbucks elands, marsh mongoose, giraffes, buffaloes, bush pigs, serval cats, hippos ,zebras ,Oryx ,bushbucks ,Suni ,duikers ,bush pigs ,antelopes ,primates like Mona monkeys , Vervet monkey ,Skye’s monkeys ,reptiles among others. The park is also haven of variety of beautiful birds including; marabou stork, yellow billed stork, pied kingfisher, white faced tree ducks Taveta, Golden weaver, black headed weaver ,golden palm
On visit here, you will be able to enjoy the cool breeze and sighting of animal’s species. There is nice restaurant with nice food served.
Wildlife viewing; Haller park a home also for reptile or Centre for reptiles Crocodile farm, fish breeding ponds, butterfly house, Crocodile farm, game sanctuary, fish breeding pond many more. Therefore, becoming a great location for wildlife viewing, where you expect to see hippos, zebras, waterbucks, antelopes, vervet monkeys, giant tortoises many more.
Giraffe feeding experience; This is an interesting activity where you get involve in interacting with the giraffes through feeding them. The feeding experience starts early between 11:00am and 3:00pm exact time where find giraffes gather around for tasty treats. Travelers who wish to participate in feeding activity, you need to buy food pellets or on the hand for the giraffes to gran with their tongues something worth an encounter, you getting close to the giraffes as you admire their beauty looks. As well as you can feed other animals like hippos, elands, Oryx which is done at 4pm while the food showdown at the crocodile section at 4:30pm.
Birding; The park has good scenic nature environment rewarding with over 160 bird species thus becoming one of the top birding destination in Kenya. On birding safari here, you’re able to view Egyptian geese, African fish eagle, Pied kingfisher, Taveta golden weaver, golden palm weaver, Yellow billed stork, black heron, Great white egret, Egyptian geese, Narina trogon many more. There are different stunning trails within sanctuary to do birding from.

Getting there;
By Flight; You can fly in Moi international Airport in Mombasa. From Mombasa to the Haller Park it’s just a short drive through hiring a private taxi which takes about 45 minutes’ drive.
Note, Haller park lies 12 kilometers away from Kenyatta Public Beach next to Bamburi cement factor opposite Nakumatt supermarket which discovers 2kilomters from the center of Bumburi. From there it takes only 25 minutes’ drive from Mombasa town to Haller Park.
Park entrance fees; For park entrance fees foreign nonresidents pay KSH1,400, KSH600 for foreign nonresident children.
The foreign residents adult pay KSH500 and Children pay KSH200 per person.
Haller park Mombasa can be visited all year around where you can choose to combine it with visit to Mombasa Marine National park, Maasai Mara or Amboseli National Park thus making it an incredible Kenya Safaris.
