Lake Mburo National Park Location; Is the easiest and closest place to the highway that connects Kampala to the safari destination in western Uganda. There are several means of transport one can use to access the park either by air or by road. It is approximately 228 kilometers from Kampala to the park but the direction journey has got one of the amazing stopover that can keep his or her mind busy, wondering and exciting and forgets about the long driving hours. The park is located in precious rocks which comprises a mixture of Cenozoic and the rocks are distributed all over the area. Moreover, Lake Mburo national park has ferralitic soils that are mainly sandy loam and sandy clay which supports the growth of different plants and trees thus making the place with green environment conserved.
However, lake Mburo national park receives a big modal low rainfall ranging between 500 and 1000 millimeters thus causing a temperature variation to be between 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.
The park can be accessed in two preserved park entrances include Sanga and Nshara gate but 20% collected from the park fees are used to support the community by building schools and clinics.
Therefore, the distance from each gate to Rwonyo is about 2 kilometers where the headquarters are found and only 20 minutes’ drive. The park has no scheduled domestic flight but one can organize private flight from Kajjansi Airfield or Entebbe Airport that lands them to Mbarara Airstrip where you can be picked up by the safari driver and drives you to the park for the activities or overnight stay. There is a slogan which says time is money, so the traveling adventures means also depends on traveler’s desires or wallet.
Lake Mburo national park location is easy and safe, since it is placed in one of the best districts in Uganda and Kiruhura district. Above all, it has a good climate that favors animals to leave well.
The park has very many ways of getting to the park right from Kampala it takes a distance of 221 kilometers to its left, therefore you are required to make a left turn that will lead you to the park’s entry. This direction leads you through the Nshura gate. Then from Mbarara it only takes 47 kilometers to the park headquarters. Reaching the park through Sanga gate you need to make a right turn then the rwesheshebe park gate which is 12 kilometers. However, it’s advisable to use a 4×4 wheel drivers due to poor changing climates at the park, more especially during rainy seasons. We also advise visitors to board a small bus but still the transport that leads you to the gate is limited meaning one must wait for some time till he or she gets the right transport means to access the main destination in order to adventure the nature which is worth encounter.
Lake Mburo national park is a unique destination with large lake despite its small size, it also has a range of scenic landscape and wildlife species that are found in the park. Making it known as the only game park in Uganda to see Impala where the name for the capital of Uganda Kampala derives. There are also giraffes though still in small number. The park is also home of range of predators such as leopards and side striped jackal and mongoose. A lot of activities can be done on visits to the park such as walking safari, horseback riding, Bird watching, game drive, night game drive, boat cruise among others.
More then, Lake Mburo national park is inhabited with shrubs, forests, wetlands and woodlands almost half the land of the park and are suitable for papyrus grow. The other part of the park is surrounded with raising and falling hills an addition to the sceneries in Lake Mburo National Park.
