Red Chill Rest Camp – Murchison Falls National Park
Red Chill Rest Camp is a superbly comfortable resting camp sited in the heart of Murchison Falls National Park at paraa, located few meters away from Victoria Nile at the bridge where all vehicles cross for Nile Delta game drives and from where boat cruise departs to cruise visitors to delta trip -devil’s cauldron. On visit here, visitors may not need to leave the camp for game viewing since hippos and warthogs are regular visitors to the camp.
Accommodation Facilities
The camp offers low to mid budget accommodation in the park in furnished safari tents and bandas with public or private bathrooms as well as only camping facilities with modern showers, toilets, cooking area and security lighting.
The camp has a wide range of accommodation options from camping to superior family bandas with en-suite facilities.
They have a well-organized restaurant located below an open thatched roof with spectacular views out towards the Nile. The restaurant serves a delicious an a la carte breakfast and lunch menu daily. They have a choice of 3 different dishes daily.
They have evening camp fire where visitors gather and chill with a drink under Africa’s bright stars.
But no Wi-Fi –during camp fire you just sit around and chat with your fellow travels about your safari instead.
They have modern toilets and showers with provision for disabled visitors. The en-suite bandas are fitted with solar hot water systems, power points and fans.
The bandas have electricity which is supplied by the generator from 7 am until 9am,11am to 2pm and then from 5pm till 10 pm daily. An inverter with battery back-up ensures light outside its compound and also provides fans in our family bandas.
There is scheduled trips that runs from Kampala every other day.
Room- Amenities
Their food is always delicious, give packed lunches and good strong coffees. They offer options of several vegetarians.
Rooms and tents are excellently comfortable and clean and do not expect luxury as this is not a luxury camp. But everything is as good as mentioned in the article.
They have enough space for parking and very secure.

Getting there;
From Kampala take the Gulu highway go through Migera via Kafu bridge where you will have to turn left to Masindi. When you reach Masindi turn right opposite at the shell garage onto the dirt road towards renown Murchison Falls national park continue driving to the main gate. From the main gate it is just 60 kilometers to access the camp with a signposted from the main road, before you reach the Victoria Nile. From Kampala to main gate –Kikyoboyombo gate covers a driving hours of 4 to 5 hour.
You can decide to enter the park from Tangi or Wankwar gates on the North bank of the Nile while using a bridge to cross over.
By Air
You can fly from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to fly over to Pakuba Airstrip which sits within the park.
Activities to do while at Red Chill Rest Camp;
Walking tours; This activity you can do it in the evening time walk around the camp or visit Budongo forest on guided nature walk where you will be able to view variety of bird species and mahogany tree species as well as small species of primates.
Sport fishing; You can also engage in sport fishing during evening time and whatever fish caught you take it to the camp and prepare it you.
Game drive viewing; No one visit Murchison falls national park on safari and leave without engaging in this fabulous game drive viewing experience in the park.
However, Murchison Falls national park the oldest and the most visited national park a home of over 76 mammal species ,450 bird species located in northwest Uganda region. The park can be reached both by air or by road transport.
