Visit Uganda Museum /attractions at Uganda museum; First of all, Uganda Museum is a national’s Museum which was founded in 1908 after Governor George Wilson who collected the object of interest throughout the country in aspect of setting up a museum. It is located in Kampala –Uganda’s capital along the main road which can be accessed both on foot and by car. The museum is full of historical attractions that was exhibits as ethnological, natural historical and traditional life collections of Uganda’s cultural heritage such as musical instruments, hunting equipment, weaponry, archaeology and entomology.

Historically, the Uganda Museum is the oldest museum in East Africa and was officially created by the British protectorate government in 1908 with ethnographic material. Although it started as a small sikh temple at Fort Lugard on Old Kampala Hill. In year between 1920s and 1940s archaeology and paleontological research which were conducted by Church Hill and other investors who collected a significant number of artifacts specimens to boost the museum. However, time came the place at Fort Lugard became too small to hold the specimens and they had to shift the museum to the Margret Trowel School of Fine Art at Makerere University college in year of 1941.
Later no, they had to collect money for funds in order to build a permanent home for these attractions and after raising the money and the building was built, currently they had to shift it on Kitante Hill in 1954. All along the way, in 2008 the museum made up 100 years old now it’s even more than that thus building up its outstanding history.
In spite the fact that ,Uganda’s museum galleries -specimens are displayed in different sections as follows; Ethnography, Natural History, Traditional Music, Industry, Early History and Science.

Ethnography Galley
This is one of the historical section that displays more than 100,000 objects of historical and cultural value such as traditional reed leads to exhibits on health, Knowledge systems, objects of warfare, traditional dressing called Gomesi for women and Kanzu for men outfits very attractive and gentle when they it on.
Music Gallery
The music galley holds a collection of musical instruments from all parts of Uganda. The instruments are displayed according to the major groups of music instruments like drums, percussion, wind and string instruments.
Paleontology
The specimen found in this section they first carried out research across the country mainly in Eastern Uganda in Karamoja region, Napak, Moroto and Kadam and also at the foothills of Mount Elgon ‘’Bokwo’’ and whole of the western rift valley near Uganda’s border with Sudan. The research that was carried yielded fossils that relate to human evolution. The fossil ape that was discovered in Napak had spent between 19 and 20 million years. The paleo- environmental research around heritage site is not only carried eastern but also in western Uganda.
On visit at Uganda museum, you will also have a chances of visiting cultural villages built in form of huts each displaying traditional lifestyles of tribes found in Uganda. Visitors who are cultural lovers and want to experience the indigenous ways of the Ugandan people and their cultural materials they include; milk pots made from wood, basketry, bead work, gourd vessel, horn work, ceramics, cutlery, leather works, musical instrument, armory among others. These traditional houses-huts include; Bamba House, Batooro House, Bunyoro House, Hima House, Ankole House and Kigezi House all representing western life style. By the time visited these cultural villages had to visit each house and guess want had to participate in all their traditional instruments they used and more fun were the photography that I took. More of the interesting items in the Tooro House are the beddings, backcloth blankets and the royal drums.

You will also tour the Ankole houses that represents Banyankole and their cooking utensils like pots, bowls made of clay that really shows how Banyankole used to prepare millet bread ‘’kalo’’ while using mingling stone.
Visit the Hoima house that belongs to the Bahima with their milk guard they used for keeping milk and long horn representing the type of cattle to be dominated in the Hoima Kraals.
The Eastern part of Uganda, you will be able to visit Busoga house, Japadhola house, Bagishu house, Teso house, Karamojong house. Whereby, visiting the Bagishu house, you will be able to see their circumcision tools used on an event of cultural celebrations including knives and headgear among other regalia.
In the Teso house you will be amazed of calabashes used for brewing and drinking Malwa and the popular local brew in eastern region.
Then the northern Uganda, there are also several stunning traditional houses of Lango, Alur house and Madi house, most of the house contains arrows and bow which were mainly used as protection tool and for hunting.
The Baganda house represents people from the central region with their backcloth, drum, baskets for Luwombo, hunting nets, wooden sandals as well as Kiganda game ‘’Omweso game ‘’ very popular among the Baganda.
