Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi
- Pick Up: You will be picked up from your location in Kigali by your guide who will welcome you and brief you about your 2 days gorilla trekking trip.
- Transfer to Bwindi: After briefing you will drive to the Cyanika border where you will cross to Uganda and drive to Kisoro town at the base of the Mufumbiro mountains. In Kisoro you will view the beautiful hills in Kisoro, the emerald green Lake Mutanda, the local market, craft shops where you will see different local artworks such as baskets woven in unique patterns. After enjoying the beauty of Kisoro, you will have a stop for lunch within Kisoro town. After lunch, you will be driven to your lodge in Bwindi national park where you will check-in.
- Cultural Encounter: Depending on the time of arrival in Bwindi park you will have a cultural encounter with the Batwa people who are known as the keepers of the forest. During the Batwa experience, you will experience how they hunt, you will also listen to folk stories about their life in the forest, enjoy cultural dance performances, learn how to prepare local food as shown by the Batwa women and so much more. After the Batwa experience you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Buhoma haven lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and departure to Kigali
- Gorilla Trekking Experience: You will wake up for an early morning breakfast at your lodge. After breakfast, you will go with your packed lunches for gorilla trekking in Bwindi national park. On arrival at the park headquarters, you will be met by the park rangers who will brief you about rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will be divided into groups of 8 people and allocated a gorilla family to trek. During the Safaris Uganda gorilla trekking experience, you will follow the trails through the impenetrable Bwindi forest as you look for the gorillas in their natural habitat. You will also see various primate species such as the vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, l’ hoest monkeys as well as other wildlife species such as the forest elephant, giant forest hog, jackals. Different bird species will also be seen flying among the trees along with the primates swinging in the tree branches.
- Return To Kigali: After the gorilla trekking experience, you will return to the briefing point where you will be met by your guide who will drive you back to Kigali via the Cyanika border which will mark the end of your gorilla trekking trip.
