Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe Airport –Birding at UWEC

On day 1 of the 7 Days Bird Watching Uganda Safari, upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will be welcomed by our driver guide and drive you directly to ‘’UWEC’’ formerly known as the Zoo. Home to over 170 bird species and 10 species of birds are weavers including Golden Backed, Northern Masked Weaver, African paradise, Baglafect Northern Brown Throated, Black Necked, Grosbeak among others. Other species are flycatchers like Red bellied, Crested shrike flycatcher, Lead Coloured, Swamp flycatcher.

You will also encounter raptors such as the Gaber Goshawk, small banded snake Eagle, Shakira, African Goshawk, African Hobby, African Fish Eagle many more. Then drive to Botanical Gardens for another birding encounter. Back for Dinner and Overnight stay in Kampala City.

Day 2: Transfer to Heritage Trail for Birding

On the 2nd day of the 7 Days Bird Watching Uganda Safari, wake up enjoy breakfast, and be driven to Heritage trail which is 10 minutes drive. You will be able to watch bird species such as Brown Crowned Tchargra, Short Toed snake Eagle, Violet backed starlings, Black Cuckoo shrike, Yellow bill, Brown Twinspot, Black Cuckoo Shrike, Southern Banded snake Eagle, Great Sparrow hawk, Mssustached Warbler many more. Thereafter, drive to Lutembe where you will have your Lunch, and after board a boat in search of numerous Grey Headed Gulls, the papyrus canary, white winged black tern, Papyrus Gonolek many more. Day 3: Transfer to Mabamba Swamps –Birding

On the 3rd day of the 7 Days Bird Watching Uganda Safari, wake up have breakfast, and then transfer to one of the top birding Uganda safari destinations that hosts a wide range of rare shoebills. Birding here is best done canoeing where you expect to see other bird species such as long toed plover, African Water Rail, Herons, Yellow Billed Duck, White faced whistling duck, Yellow billed duck , Grey and Black headed Heron Moorhen, Allen’s Gallinule, African Jacana, Sitatunga Antelope, Black crake, Goliath,Purple ,Heron ,Pygmy Goose among others. Back to Kampala along the way, you will stop at another swamp to spot other bird species like Papyrus Gonolek, Yellow Crowned Bishop, Weyns weaver , and White winged warbler among others. Dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Mabira Forest –Birding

On the 4th day of the 7 Days Bird Watching Uganda Safari, wake up have an early morning breakfast, and embark on Mabira Forest for birding which is an hour’s drive from Kampala. You will be able to view a variety of bird species like Leaf love, Toro Greenbul, Yellow whiskered Greenbul, Grey spotted woodpecker, white spotted Fluff tail, Forest Robin, Yellow Rumped Tinkerbird, Yellow throated tinker bird, Blue breasted Kingfishers, Shining blue, Woodland kingfishers, Chin spot Batis, Chestnut wattle Eye, Yellow mantled, Black Billed, Weyn’s weavers, Violets backed starling, Red headed Malimbe, Purple headed starling, Red tailed Ant Thrust among others. Have a picnic lunch and go birding in the evening. Drive back to Kampala for dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

On the 5th day of the 7 Days Bird Watching Uganda Safari, after morning breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National National Park a 4-hour drive from Kampala with a stopover at the equator to have a water experiment. Continue to Lake Mburo for birding where you expect to spot species like Green Wood Hoopoe, Crested Francolin, Emerald spotted wood dove, Bare faced Go- Away bird, Lilac breasted Roller, spot-Flanked Barbet Northern Black Tit, Trilling cisticola, Common Scimitar bill, Greater Blue Eared Starling, African Grey Hornbill, Brown parrot many more. Go for lunch inside the park Afternoon Game Viewing: After going for afternoon game viewing along the Zebra Track where you will be exposed to bird species such as Black bellied bustard, Coqui Francolin, Tamaracks Courser, African wattle plover, Chested swallow, Rufous napped rufous, Flapped Lark, you will also look out for evasive leopards and other nocturnal species and others. Dinner and Overnight stay

Day 6: Nature walk –Lake Mburo National Park

After morning breakfast, go for a nature walk around wetland and savannah bird species such as Red headed lovebird, Black Collared barbet, localized red faced barbet, Green capped Eremomela, and Lead coloured Flycatcher, back for lunch.

Later on, drive to the evening game drive to encounter more species within the park. Dinner and Overnight stay

Day 7: Game viewing -Birding along the Lakeside Track /Return to Kampala

After morning breakfast, you will go for morning game viewing along the Lakeside Track where you will be able to encounter aquatic species like Papyrus Gonolek, White Winged warbler, Lesser and Greater Swamp Warbler, Blue headed coucal, you will still sightsee for the African Darter, African water rail, African fin foot, Spur winged plovers among others. After, you will set off to Kampala with lunch en- route and then drive to Kampala or Entebbe Airport for your departure flight. Remember to carry a pair of binoculars.
