Kibale National Park; Offers two sessions of Chimpanzee habituation experience that is half day and full day ,each session starts early in the morning at around 7:00am with a briefing at the Kanyanchu park headquarters about chimpanzee rules and regulations with expectations. Then after briefing you will be led by a team of researchers and park guides to forest trail head, as you will be trekking there are chances of viewing other primate species including L’Hoest monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, black and white colobus monkeys, spot some of the mammals in the forest, spot variety of beautiful bird species, tree species, beautiful butterflies many more. Once chimpanzees are located these under habituation process, you will be given four hours to spend with them and get to learn about their amazing lifestyle, behaviors, take photos, watch them nesting in the evening hours, hunting, playing, feeding, patrolling, breastfeeding, grooming their young ones, copulating as well as collecting samples dropped by chimpanzees.
Chimpanzee Habituation Experience –Prices
A chimpanzee habituation permit is a legal document issued by responsible body to all Uganda’s national park known as Uganda Wildlife Authority and a visitor must be above the age of 15 years to go for chimpanzee habituation.
Kibale –Chimpanzee habituation permits costs USD250 for foreign nonresident, USD200 for foreign resident and UGX200,000 for East African community fees are paid per person per day. The fees paid allows you to spend four hours with chimpanzees. We advise you to book your Chimpanzee permit in advance of 3 to 6 months before the travelling date of tracking, because permits are competitive and are on quick sell. And the only way to avoid the last minute disappointment you to book in advance.

Chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale is good to go all year around though the best time is during wet season same as low season which starts in the months of March, April, May and November.
During wet season the park is less congested and plenty of food. Therefore, finding chimpnzees in this season is much easier compared to the dry seasons, yes the forest trails can be out of slippery but finding chimpanzee seem to be challenging as they move deep into the forest in search of food.
