Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Airport pick up and Transfer to Tarangire National Park – evening game drive

On day 1 of the 9 Days Tanzania and Kenya Wildlife Safari, upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Meet your safari driver for a briefing before you set off your safari to Tarangire National Park. The driving journey takes about 2-3 hours and upon arrival, connect for an evening game drive to look out for animals like the herds of Elephants as well as other wildlife species such as zebras, hartebeest, elephants, waterbucks, gazelles, Oryx and others. Transfer to your booked lodge, dinner and overnight stay at Tarangire View Camp

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park Game Drive and Walking Safari

On day 2 of the 9 Days Tanzania and Kenya Wildlife Safari, after breakfast, you will go enjoy a game drive in the plains of Lake Manyara National Park. After your picnic lunch, head on a guided nature walk and get closer to the natural surroundings in the park including animals to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, and many others; and also enjoy the rewarding views around. After the nature walk, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Lake Manyara Heritage Lodge

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Drive – transfer to Serengeti National Park

On day 3 of the 9 Days Tanzania and Kenya Wildlife Safari, after breakfast, with your packed lunch drive out for a half-day game drive in the crater. You will descend 600 meters into the crater. The crater is home to numerous wildlife species like the big 5 which includes lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos and elephants. Other wildlife species in Ngorongoro to watch are hyenas, wildebeests, antelopes, cheetahs, antelopes, zebras, hippos, waterbucks, warthogs many others. There are also different bird species, which can be adventured around Ngorongoro crater such as ostriches as well as flamingos common along the shores of Lake Magadi.

After your game drive, drive to Serengeti National Park where you will arrive in the evening to enjoy a sunset game drive in this beautiful park. En-route stop for the landscape views, Olduvia Gorge.

Serengeti National Park is one of the main stopping destinations where one can get closer to the big 5 game while on a game drive. The park is also referred to as the breeding grounds for the wildebeests where thousands of visitors flock in for an annual migration between Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Day 4: Full day excursion in Serengeti National Park

On day 4 the 9 Days Tanzania and Kenya Wildlife Safari, wake up from the comfort of your bed as early as possible, enjoy breakfast and pack your lunch box. Go meet your driver for a full day in the wilderness of Serengeti National Park. While on an early game drive, you will catch up with the wildlife that is always active thus enabling you to have a glance at these mammals as they rush back to their hideouts.

During your game drive in the Serengeti plains, expect to see a variety of wildlife species such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, Zebras, Impala, African wild dogs, Serval cats, elephants and other species. The experience of the annual migration event usually happens every June, July, August and September. You will also drive around the kopjes like the Simba kopjes during your game drive in Serengeti National Park and you will enjoy watching lions as they watch their prey in the savannah plains from the top of the rocks. You will also enjoy viewing the sunset as your guide drives you back to your lodge.

Day 5: Another day game drive in Serengeti National Park

On day 5 of the 9 Days Tanzania and Kenya Wildlife Safari, have early breakfast, get a packed lunch and go for a full day game drive starting from far North around the Mara river just in case you came on the opposite month when the migration will start from Serengeti after missing it from Mara Kenya side now. You will spend the whole day looking for animals like Hippos, Elephants, Buffalos, Giraffes, Lions, Hyenas, Cheetahs, Antelopes, Hartebeest, zebras mention but a few. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the lodge above

Day 6: Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve via Isabenia border

On day 6 of the 9 Days Tanzania and Kenya Wildlife Safari, you will have a very early breakfast and check-out from the lodge to start on your journey to Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya with an en-route game drive as you continue to Isebania border where you will be crossing to Kenya. Upon arrival at the border do clearance from the customs office and then meet your Kenyan driver guide to drive you to Maasai Mara. You will connect to Maasai Mara National Reserve via Olololo gate in Mara west, and proceed to your lodge for check-in, relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Zebra Plains Lodge for mid-range/Neptune Mara Rianta Luxury Camp Luxury.

Day 7: Full-day game drive in Maasai Mara

After your morning breakfast and carry your packed lunch and meet your safari driver to head to the plains of Maasai Mara for a full day adventure in this fabulous savannah vegetation where you will be able to watch many animals in large populations such as lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeests, zebras among others. You will enjoy your picnic lunch and continue a game drive until the sun goes down. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and overnight stay at the lodge as above

Day 8: Another day full day in Maasai Mara 

After breakfast, you will head to the plains of the reserve for the final morning game drive. After the game drive, head back to your lodge, have dinner, and stay overnight at the lodge as above

Optional activity;

Hot air balloon – Wake up and be picked up by the air balloon team for your hot air balloon safari which starts in the early morning, just in time for sunrise. For about one hour you will be floating peacefully above the ground, with an aerial eye view of the African bush below. The capacity for this activity is limited making this a very special and exclusive experience. Breakfast is provided in the bush and thereafter connected back to the lodge.

Day 9: Community tour – Transfer to Nairobi (5-6 hours’ drive) – Departure

After breakfast, check out of the lodge, and connect for a Maasai community tour to the Maasai village/Maasai Loita Hills for a cultural tour experience. During this amazing cultural experience, you will enjoy getting a deeper insight into the Maasai culture by interacting with the local Maasai people, be entertained by local dancers, drama, and Maasai warriors; buy local Maasai items like local Maasai Shukas, beautifully made accessories such as necklaces and earrings and taste local cuisines.

After the experience, continue to Nairobi with en-route lunch and at Narok market a popular Maasai village where you have an option of buying some Maasai souvenirs as you transfer back to Nairobi. Arrive and be dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta airport for your onward flight back home or any advised place. That marks the end of the safari.
